How should you mirror on Webtoon?

So, I'm not looking for the technical aspect, as that's easy enough.

But I was wondering, business wise, what is the smartest way to host a comic on here and on Webtoons? Should you wait for a big following to grow here, then mirror on Webtoons? Do it right from the start? Wait until your series is done, then start posting on Webtoons for new readers to discover the story?

For context, I was hesitant to post on Webtoons because I don't make vertical scrolling comics. But I know that Webtoons has a bigger audience and much better opportunities for revenue. Just wondering on everyone's thoughts for mirroring.

I decided from that start that it was probably best to throw the net as wide as possible and see which platform(s) bit the most. At the moment it seems like Tapas.

I think that for those of us who are just starting out or don't already have a huge following, going wide is better than going deep. Especially since, Webtoon's larger audience means it's harder to be discovered in general. I think it would be a good practice to post there and anywhere else you can if you have the means to do so as the attention is all feeding towards a single point.

I posted on both at the same time. From at least the youtube Webtoon podcasts I've listened to, most people do the same. I don't want to miss out on any potential readers.

The two audiences are different. Many people who subscribe to me here are other creators. On webtoon, most people are just interested readers. I personally prefer the latter, since I'm never sure if other creators are genuinely reading, or if it's just being supportive. This is indicated by the fact that I have much more episode "likes" on Webtoon, and on Tapas most of my comments are from other creators.

One thing I recommend for Webtoon is to change your comic to vertical format, or at least do something to make your page fit better with that format. It's a much bigger barrier for their readers than Tapas.

Do it from the start, no reason to wait, the audience is different. Scroll format would be much preferable on Webtoons, so if you can cut the pages - I'd recommend that, we got a lot of comments about how we should make the comic more "webtoons friendly" when we originally posted the pages and we basically started to get featured immediately after we did just that.

I don't know if I can do that with my pages, is the main problem. I will work with it to see how it fits, but who knows if it'll look any good.

Well, maybe I'll have to give it a try, thank you (both) for bringing that up. I'm fourteen pages in, I hope it isn't too late to post there too? I was going to wait until volume one was done so that I could just que up pages on Webtoons and not have to worry about drawing new ones for a bit while I worked on part two. (for context, the first "issue" will be twenty two pages, just like a print comic).

I mean, your audience most likely will never meet, so most of them also won't know about your comic being on Tapas for some time =) definitely not too late, I went to Webtoons after a year of starting posting on Tapas, never had any problems with that
As for your pages, I would give it a thought, because I really understand how much of a work this is (and I can only recommend it due to my own experience).

ya it's definitely not a small amount of work :')
Most of your panel would actually work well in scrolling format I think. The only issues are the horizontal panels and some of the overlapping panel layout. You would have to be creative with your cut and pasting.

Atleast you're not going from scrolling format to traditional work

Lol that's my Lore Olympus hot take. Saw it in print and opened it up, they definitely had to get creative to make that work.
