So, it was an embarrassingly long time after I started posting my novel (and YEARS after I started reading on Tapas) that I discovered that A) Tapas users each have a wall where they can make announcements or receive messages and B) that it is nice manners to thank new subscribers by posting on their walls!
Once I found the Wall, I could not for the life of me figure out how to find the walls of my specific subscribers-- couldn't search their usernames if they weren't creators, couldn't click on their names in notifications, etc. Googling was of limited usefulness and so was asking around, because the most common response I got was "We have a WALL?"
Eventually, though, I cracked the case, and just in case you are also just now finding out that we have Walls or also couldn't figure out how to access your subsribers' walls, Imma tell you.
Critical Info: For both you and your subscribers, the first thing you have to know is that walls are BROWSER ONLY-- you cannot access them when you are using the app.
To get to an actionable list of YOUR subscribers, you have to go to YOUR wall first (not your dashboard). Do this by clicking on your username.
Once on your wall, look over on the left hand side of the page and you'll see your subscriber number, which really doesn't look like a button that does things. BUT IT IS! dramatic revelation chords play
Having clicked that number, you'll see a grid of your subscribers, and you can click on each of them to post to their walls. I just left individualized messages for each person, which even though I have a small number of subscribers was still a major undertaking because I had to retroactively thank 275 people all at once. If I'd done it as people subscribed, it would have been so much easier. A lot of creators make a general thank-you image and just post that on each new subscriber's wall. You do you.
Here's what your subscriber grid will look like:
I did discover that some users have walls that you cannot post to, I imagine it is because of their individual settings, but I was able to thank the majority of them.
I talked a little about this adventure in my author notes and discovered that at least one of my readers who is also a creator had no idea that people had been leaving them encouraging messages on their wall the whole time and was so happy to find them and read them! In case you're in the same boat, I thought I should pass this info on.
So, whether you want to thank subscribers or not or feel it's necessary or not (debate for another thread), at least now you have the option if you didn't know how before!
