If I'm writing about something I've seen, the first thing I like to do is think of descriptive words that match the scenario. In this case, the first words I thought of were "bumble" and "resolute".
The child bumbled across the leaf strewn grass, her tiny feet waddling uncertainly. Abruptly, she stopped and stared at a ball in the distance, deep in the throes of toddling excitement. With a singular purpose, she charged forward and kicked the ball with all of her might, expecting it to fly right into next week.
Instead, her feet skidded on the slippery leaves, and she flopped backwards onto her bottom. Tears filled her eyes as the ball rolled less than an inch, resolute in its placidity.
That's my take on it. Might not be very funny, but I'm not all that great at writing comedy. Fun challenge, though!
