How to tune/clear out notifications?

Hello,
I'm not very good with the website and I can't find any help in the FAQ, I was wondering how to clear out especially the gift and messages tabs? I keep clicking "mark all read" but it reloads the page and they are still here and the red number doesn't go down. Its a little tedious to have to go through the tabs to get to "Activity" and see actual messages from user and other creators I follow or comment/like notifications.
And when I try to click on the gear/setting icon next to "mark all read" it takes me to general setting, I don't know how to find the setting to tune the notifications.
I'm sorry I am not using the site very often, so it's possible I'm just being very bad at this, but I keep running in circle... Sorry if it's a stupid question but any help is appreciated!

I hold ctrl+click the button and that usually works for me.

But we can't turn them off. Welcome to Tapas.

Sadly, you can't tune it. This annoys me as well because every time I see notifications I get excited it's a new like or a comment and it's... ads for series.

The "mark all read" button is buggy. So just click it several times if you have to and it should clear up the notifications.

I don't remember it being so tedious, I thought i just became a big dummy, so thanks a lot!
I really like some of the work here but the platform makes it harder and harder both to create and follow. Some comics I follow don't even show up in my bookmarks! And when i go to the comic page/profil, it's aware i'm subscribed! No matter how much i unsub and resub? : (

Yes, i don't come very often, and to catch up it's awful! so many things aren't as intuitive as they used to : (
It really sucks because the community and creators and webcomic scene is kinda nice, but interacting with it seems downright impossible... I guess it ain't the worse, but yeah, really annoying as you say...
