So - there are two main features on Ko-Fi that I think are the key to using it good.
- The "superchat" comment wall.
- The Goal meter.
Now, INK on tapas has both of these features now so I think you could easily apply these ideas to tipping too, however I don't think you should because tips can be like... pennies, wheras ko-fi's are a fixed amount ($3 by default, and you can set it to whatever if you have ko-fi gold but like... why?)
So, my thought is to use the goal meter as like "at $100 donated I'll do my next minicomic" and then crediting/showcasing the comments of everyone who contributed to that goal at the end of the minicomic. However, I'm not entirely a fan of this because 1) Holding content for ransom is a bad idea. 2) Holding content for ransom is a bad idea, and 3) Holding content for ransom is a bad idea.
A variant of this would be like... Goal: at $100 I can buy some new software + I'll make a thank you update featuring every donors comments, or perhaps doing a donors only Q&A/comment response thing? I dunno.
I wouldn't use Ko-Fi as a place to solicit commissions (which is basically what thank you sketches are...) because like... just put up a commission sheet on tumblr or whatever and have people pay you via paypall? My point is that there are bigger fish to fry using ko-fi, it's just a matter of catching that fish and learning how to cook it.
