I forgot how fun writing could be

I realized something today. I had forgotten how much fun writing could be. Like a lot of people, I was part of the Great Wattpad Exodus of 2020. Over the last few months, I've been shopping around on other writing sites to test out my story. At one point, I was posted/editing work on three sites. I know I did it to myself, but why dedicate posting your work to a site with no results. Anywho, I was ready to be done with Part 3 of The Museum series.

With all that being done, I started writing part 4 and I am loving it. It's not perfect (and when y'all read it, I do need feedback) but I'm having fun again. I've been able to complete about 6,000 words in the last 3-4 days. I could write more but I have a big-girl job and other adulting that I have to do that take up time. Anyway, just wanted to share

I feel you. It's a pain to post to sites that don't get results.
I have on my dA a journal - which now doesn't appear because dA's eclipse layout (whines in disgust) - a list of sites broken up into two easy categories.

(This is not a recommendation to post on Ao3 or Booksie. Booksie is largely dead for me, and Ao3 is largely dead for me if it's not fanfic. All the other sites ""I don't care for"" might as well be that can of corn on the bottom of the shelf covered in 3 inches of dust no one wants to ever touch. That's how dead those sites are and have been, and were, for me.)

I tried some of those sites too. Booksie was great for getting tons of reads, but you had to keep posting/promoting and Fiction Press was a wasteland for me. Inkitt has been okay but my stuff isn't in their target genres so not tons of readers. It's just nice to write and get good feedback.

I literally joined tapas as part of my "what next dead writing site for not-fanfics can i find?" and expected this site to be just as much a wasteland. I don't have giant numbers, but I am always pleasantly surprised by my numbers. However, for pretty much all my works that aren't "Nearly There Nicely" - even if they're in the BL or Fantasy genres - show symptoms of this "wasteland" syndrome continuing.

I completely agree with you! Over the last month or so I've really enjoyed writing and posting my story on Tapas. I feel like my creative juices are finally flowing again.

Kind of unrelated, but that is why I am restricting myself for pursuing other hobbies just because I am enjoying the product of such hobby (for example music, comic-making, and animation).

Writing and drawing has sucked out the fun and joy from reading and enjoying visual art for me, and to some degree making it. Now it is all riddled with envy and inferiority complex. It become worse when you start to tie your worth of yourself to how well-received your creation is.

I have been on at least about a couple writing sites but I have been on DA, Fictionpress, Mibba ( for a short time), Wattpad ( Only have been around writing about two weeks or so), and this site. I started it off with DA in my early writing years. I considered getting back writing on on it until Eclipse happened and I fell out of love with the web site. I have only been on Mibba a couple times and Fictionpress. I liked Mibba but I dropped out the community. Fictionpress, I can't say too much on it except looks too inactive and sometimes I'm surprised it is still alive.
