Hello everyone,
Due to the nature of my job, I only can draw in winter. But winter is 100% free. I virtually have NOTHING to do.
I'm wondering if there are any tips you can give me to use this time at the fullest.
My hope is not necessarily to make a lot of pages in these two months, but rather to improve the quality of what I make.
One of my concerns is losing my enthusiasm if I'm drawing several hours a day. Is there any way you found to avoid that? I reckon this kind of problem must happen to professional artists all the time, although I'm not sure whether the reasons and solutions would be the same than for amateurs?
The other thing is that I'm pretty much a beginner in every aspect (comics, digital drawing, and the worse: drawing people.. I spent most of my “drawing life” drawing plants and stuff through the microscope) and even if in theory I know I have to work on all aspects at the same time, it feels a bit daunting. I know things will improve with practice (I can see it already a bit), but I feel the need to focus on one thing more specifically so I can actually (hopefully) see some real improvement (without forgetting the rest). But on what thing/what aspect is the question.
Should I focus on trying to get my digital drawing abilities at par with my traditional drawing abilities?
Or focus on learning how to draw people better?
Or spend time learning about comics in 2018 (I mostly read 1930-1970 comics - even if these actually don't influence me much)
Etc...
I think at the end my interrogation is: Is there anything in my comic that is so much more jarring than the rest, that improving this aspect is really what I should focus on?
I find it's difficult to decide what's the most crucial thing to work on when you're a beginner because 1) you know everything has to be improved and 2) by definition you don't have much hindsight.
Here is my comic:
Thank you in advance for your help
