Omg, Abby—yes, yes, a thousand times YES! The Elsie musical is gonna be everything. I can already see the vision: gears, corsets, top hats, and those giant goggles that are so aesthetic—full-on steampunk-meets-vintage Broadway energy and a whole lot of dramatic musical flair.
But, okay, hear me out—so what if you went full Wagner with this and made it, like, an epic Leitmotif Meets Ragtime moment?? Like, each character could have their own musical theme (Elsie’s would, obvi, be super heroic and steampunk chic with all the brass instruments and, like, a hint of mystery), and then you could weave these themes in and out depending on what’s going down. I’m talking dramatic flourishes every time the villain enters, or, like, a ragtime version of Elsie’s theme when she’s in her ‘disguise’ mode. Peak drama, right??
Imagine this—Elsie’s big hero moment gets a full Wagner-style buildup: violins, horns, the whole shebang, but then BOOM—ragtime twist! It’s like she’s out there battling to the most epic, high-energy piano riffs ever, and suddenly it feels like the entire 1890s is cheering her on. You’d have people bopping along while she saves the day. I’m basically seeing a ragtime-meets-classical mashup with giant gears turning in the background and steam hissing in rhythm with the music.
And one last idea—you could do this whole radio drama segment, like it’s being broadcast live, and mix in those old-timey announcer voices. ‘And now, folks, the daring Miss Elsie enters the scene—will she save the day or be caught in the villain’s dastardly trap?!’ Cue dramatic piano riff, and we’re in business. But seriously, I love this concept, and I can’t wait to see you pull it off!
