Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing well. I'm currently writing a new adult BL sports romance novel. One of the main characters is a star collegiate football player. As I'm writing the initial chapters, I've hit a bit of a dilemma regarding where to start the story. My outline is fairly comprehensive, but I'm reevaluating the opening scene. Initially, I planned to start with a different scenario, but now I'm considering beginning the story when the football coach tells the main character that he needs to contact a tutor due to his slipping grades, or he'll be benched. This moment is crucial as it essentially kicks off the main plot. Would it be more impactful to start the story here, or should I retain the original opening and incorporate this scene later? I'd greatly appreciate any advice on this! The first two chapters have already been published (One but split in two). If anyone could take the time to read them and provide feedback, I would greatly appreciate it. In return, I'm happy to read your stories, subs, and comments.
