I need some advice for my writing and art!

Hello! I am an artist and a writer. I am at a cross roads of what exactly I want to do.

My original plan was to continue making art. I was hoping to have grown a following of substantial size on Instagram in the next year or so. I planned to also post sketches and drawings of my characters. I was then going to self publish my book and let my audience on my socials know when the book was showing to be available.

However, lately I have been thinking it may be a cooler idea to find a couple sites to post my book on a weekly basis. I would also like to be able to have some bonus sketches or art of some of the characters at the beginning or end of each chapter. I could also link my socials at the end of each chapter. I thought that maybe doing it this way I could grow an audience for my story as well as having a larger possibility of growing an audience on Instagram as well!

I will say, I want my stories to be books. Although I am an artist as well, I feel that my stories will be better as books.

I would love some opinions or advice from others! Which idea do you think would be better? Also, if you have any advice on what sites I could post to, I am open to anything really!

I am totally new to the thought of posting my books on any sites. So anything you could say will help! Thanks!

Well. Sounds like you are going for the print in the end. But having it here on Tapas is newer wrong. If you ask me.
There IS a big different to read a comic online or on print. But what I have seen is, a good way to get people to by the print, is to have it online too. It is okay that they have read the story, some still want it on print.

So one advice could be. Go ahead and put it on Tapas. Too see if people will like it.

Thank you for that! Yea, I am thinking that maybe it would be best to post it on some sites and see where it goes from there. I could make prints later. Or make prints of a different story later on.

Now I am sorry of just trying to think of what sites I could post it on. I know of here and Wattpad. Trying to think of more! I also want to make sure the sites allow me to post photos in the book chapters. I know some sites don't allow the photos. But I'm not sure which ones do and don't.

I am an artist and a writer myself, and choose to write my first novel. And hopefully get it published as a book haha. I've searched around a lot myself where one can build the best audience, and I figured its never a bad thing to host it here on Tapas and build your financed to indie publish.

It's why I am happy to be an artist and writer both; I can visualize my work and write it. And the former makes it easier to slap my marketing on it haha. It's why I started my Patreon actually.

I think it would be a really good idea to write out your story first and post on say tapas or some other site for example so you can get the pacing and overall story down, as well as build an audience, then create a visual experience that improves upon the novel since you can change certain aspects after hand if you feel the need.
