Diary of a Douchebag

I'm still in the process of painting it and some of the dialogue is still rough and needs some editing but this is more ore less how it will read when it is complete. Please check it out. It's about 60+ pages. A lot of swear words though (the characters are frat dudes).

I hope you enjoy it. Please leave some comments or feedback on how I can improve some dialogue choices.

Yeah. I think I'm going to stop doing comics for awhile once I finish this one. Comics are a lot of work and next fall I'll be going to school full time for a teaching credential. While going to school it's much easier to do a painting every once in a while compared to giving myself a year long intensive comic project.

especially your writing. the way you present the narrative is real nice. id say you could afford to be more creative with your images; your story is heavily narrated, which is really nice, and gives you a lot of freedom for your images to see a different angle or get a little abstract. although, you did this brilliantly in the virgin scene, and i dont think any panel is redundant (i thought this might be the case for the susan car scene, but theres the glasses thing which i think is significant enough. altho that is a place where u could give yourself more freedom?)
that said, i like the bluntness of it. it makes scenes like the virgin scene really stand out; the narration is a false retelling, the images are the truth. thats nice.

and honestly? i dont think all the art needs to be colour (is that what you mean by painting?) smth abt the black and white steady lines is very 90s comic-cartoonist in a way that really suits the comic. it also gave your coloured scenes emphasis - so maybe colouring some scenes, but going generally for monochrome could be interesting. mayb smth abt moments when hes being his full self (the end, the fight, the argument w chad?) could be in colour, but the rest is b&w.
that said, your colour technique is really nice.

also i really like the dialogue. i have no qualms w the writing at all. i werent entirely sure abt the BL bit - maybe the term 'slash fiction' would be more likely for her age range? especially since she gives drarry as an example. idk, i personally cant imagine a girl in college rambling abt verbatim "boy's love" to a stranger, but then i dont really talk to fujoshis and the like. smth abt it feels awkward bc of the people who use tapas. might be just me.

i described a lot of stuff as nice in this comment which is just me being tired not fake. i really really enjoyed reading this.

Hey thanks for reading. Glad you enjoyed it and thought it was good (good in italics means it's 100x better than a normal good).

I still plan on painting it. I don't use computer for color. I actually go reprint out the pages on watercolor paper and I paint over it. It takes a long time but it's my favorite part of the process. I know you like it in black and white but I really love the painting aspect.

I've never heard of slash fiction. Is that another term for BL? also this story takes place around 2011-2012. Was slash fiction a term then? The story takes place in 2011-2012 just so I'd be able to write about how much I hate Yun in Super Street fighter 4 ae. That's how petty I am XD.

well i think the best way to produce comics for indi guys like us is doing small projects, not long ones, doing small things you can submit to magazines or for contest also, not just triying to sell like a read you tried one, but don't leave comics, its a good way to xpres your ideas, i think the easiest way to dont feel down doing comics is just do thinks you like and fun to produce. that's what i do, i just have 4 months producing comics but i enjoy drawing my stuff and also start doing submisitions for magazines i recomend you do the same, your art is good

Yeah. I may want to try shorter stuff but I really enjoy writing longer narratives and developing characters.

Also as much as I talk about quitting comics, I'll probably start working on new stuff after I graduate. One of the reasons I'm becoming a teacher is because I'll have two months of summer to crank out work.

What magazines do you submit to?

i recently submit to heavy metal magazine, and rocket entretainiment. heavy metal is tought but they recieve 6 or 7 pages long comics but mostly contest.

slash fiction is far more likely for a college girl in 2012 to say than BL imo, i think its the older term (or older popular term, in the west) it originates in western fanfic circles, like shes talking abt, from 'm/m' hence, slash.

and fair enough, i feel you on the painting tbh. that sounds real nice - and it looks good, so no worries.

Dude, YES! Awesome comic! I liked it better when the narration looked hand-written instead of using a comic book font. There are a few grammatical errors and I should've taken notes of them, but other than that it's pretty cool!

Thanks. Yeah I plan on doing the narration by hand once I'm done coloring the comic. The black and white pages are really a rough draft. That's why the spelling and grammar can be pretty bad. I was mostly just curious on how the comic would read.
