That’s pretty much exactly why I stopped using Facebook and why I’m not using my Twitter. Though I’d like to start using Twitter more just to share random moments of fun or insight. I may not follow many people, but I can at least add some good stuff to the ‘verse!

I don't have that problem with facebook but that's because I'm terribly selective. So at the end there are so few people on my Facebook that I use it mostly to like/follow pages and not interact with people I know.. So I suppose that's not really a social media kind of use.

I saw some mention of being selective on this thread, and I think if you want to remain on Twitter, you really have to screen what you want on your feed. Unfollow/mute/"see fewer likes from" are all invaluable tools...I also changed my trending tags to Japan so I have no hope of understanding it.

It also doesn't hurt to view it lightly. Part of the reason social media in general and especially Twitter is so miserable is that some people take it very, very, very seriously.

I gave Twitter a shot after the Great Tumblr Nipple Ban of 2018™ when everyone and their dog was jumping ship over there, but I gave up pretty fast. It's a cesspool.

You're not wrong. I took it so seriously at one point that I had issues. I love deleting my tweets but it all came down to my own sanity. My own happiness. I wasn't about to be dragged down a rabbit hole of despair and sadness. So, to protect myself, I deleted it.

Negativity and self-depricating humor is the exact reason I've bowed out of facebook and 99% of tumblr. I get that people want to vent and share things - good and bad about their lives - but when the algorithms are set up to constantly shove stuff you dislike in your face, it puts you off. Worse is there's no good way to filter crap out on tumblr without using an extra software.

True....but, I was referencing an episode of Invader Zim... Zim created a robot dad and the dad's leg fall off. And the dad shouted to the heavens, "Why did my leg fall off, why?" He started crying and the robot mother started poking random people in the head for no reason at all. Show was a head of it's time. XD

Def not cool- just learning from past mistakes...but then again I've never been one to argue about stuff that I have no invested interest in.

@nostalgicroxas I've def peeled back my time on Facebook- I go through there some days and see peers arguing with folks on the orange oompah-loompah and I shake my head; I cant put that much energy or time into stuff like that.

I have a personal account where I mostly follow political commentators and such, but I made all my tweets private in order to discourage getting into arguments with strangers (they can't read my tweets unless they follow me, therefore replying to them would be a waste of time).

On my @BlueWorldComics account, I avoid politics as much as possible... The most political I will get with that account is liking something related to #comicsgate (or something similar).

Gee, and I thought I was odd or immature for feeling uncomfortable on Twitter ^^
I kinda need it but...I kinda don’t. But I feel it’s important for promotional reasons . However, I usually post art and then run. Most accounts I follow are artists who post art. But I also have some friends who get into debates and those debates end up on my timeline (because ‘Friend A said something to A-hole B. See what it’s about and get involved!’ <,<)
Let alone all the ads and stuff....And negative venting posts and on and on...

Good for you for leaving Twitter. It sure makes me feel better that others are equally uncomfortable there. ^^
