I appreciate your perspective, and I do want to consider the "customer's" point of view, which is why I started this thread. A couple of things to keep in mind: I plan to print this comic, so those oversaturated colors would end up looking muddy on the page. Also, even if modern webcomic readers t…
Yeah... I wanted to mention that I’m pretty sure my friend chooses colors based on how they look on screens, while from the start, I was planning to print the series eventually and kept that in mind with my color choices.

To get straight to the point (details below, though they aren't necessary): I hired a friend to color one of my comic pages. While I liked certain aspects of their work, there were several fundamental flaws, along with other issues. So, I decided to recolor it myself, using their general color schem…
Thank you all for answering my question. Seems like no one is really bothered by it.
A friend of mine said the pixelated line art in my comic "looked unprofessional". As a random Jo Schmo independent artist, and not a professional, I don't care about that. But the comic isn't for me, it's for general audiences. You're the perfect people to ask because you are all webcomics conno…
Bump in case anyone else has any new insights or examples. For further clarification, a character in my book is Mexican and his mom insists on speaking Spanish in the house. So everything she says in the house will be in Spanish in an otherwise English-speaking book.
For a book intended for English readers, how would one go about implementing non-English dialogue? Should I just type it out in the language it's spoken in and let the readers fend for themselves for translations? Or should I somehow, some way include a translation... If the latter, how? And if an…
Interesting stuff! No cap. Frfr
I'm writing a book where the fact that the father and son have the same name is relevant to the plot. Pretty much all of the writing advice I've learned tells you not to have characters with similar names because it's confusing to track for the reader. I've also found writing it to be a bit of has…
I guess my question for you is can all of your comics be changed to a comic strip format?
Bump because I made this thread at an awkward time of day and may have missed out on some potential hits over it.
My comic is in a style similar to that of a weekly newspaper strip. I'm essentially looking to keep a database of other comics with a similar newspaper strip style. Doesn't have to be the weekly style (which can have as many as 10 panels or more per installment). It could also be the daily style, …
This is a quick one... What is better, only uploading on your Tapas, Webtoon, etc. account, or posting your content everywhere? I'm only gonna get ad revenue and such from Tapas/Webtoon-type places, so the more views, the more subscribers the better in that regard. However, Twitter, Instagram, F…
When one of your characters is telling a story, how do you write this? For example: Katrina's eyes may have been stuck staring at the boiling pot of soup, but her mind was elsewhere. Finally, she felt safe enough to tell her companions the truth. At this point, Katrina would commence telling her…
Good point. Here's a quick, unrelated sketch I did a while ago. [image] And to be clear, it's INKING, not coloring...
Should we DM for prices or do you have a general page rate already? (Not for me but for a friend).
I'm really over drawing my own comics lol But I can't afford the average rate for a full blown artist... So instead, if I can afford one, I just need a finisher; someone to make my drawings pretty. So, on average, what would most of you work-for-hire folks be likely to charge? Keep in mind, my…
Anybody know of a good (inoffensive) way to indicate African-American skin tone while drawing in black and white without grayscale? The art style is very simple and cartoony, so I cant rely on thick shading either. Charles Schulz used to cross-hatch... Somehow I don't feel that's appropriate, bu…
A lot of people have mentioned this so I sat around and thought of a way to describe the level of sentients for the character... I would compare it to a caveman. Perfectly capable of learning, absorbing, and adapting to new information, just blissfully ignorant living in a more natural environment…
A comic... It'll be a while lol One of the things I thought about was that this could be an opportunity to help normalize alternative pronouns. I had no idea people went by It... That's actually really interesting news. Maybe this character can one day become an agender icon.
No name, so that wouldn't work out. Plus there is zero dialogue in the comic; only narration.
My protagonist is basically an alien blob. No gender. No understanding of the concept of gender. Also can't hear and can't speak, so there will be no personal introductions or communicating preferences of any kind. The only text in the comic is a third-person narration that accompanies every pa…
Same... B is easily my favorite. A is okay. C is actually my least favorite because I like to be able to see the whole comic right away.
Follow-up question somewhat unrelated to the topic, but related to your answer: Is it unreasonable to expect people to zoom?
A B C 0voters Show results [image] Commonly used by slice of life and comedy webcomics. Sarah Scribbles, Brutally Honest, Strange Planet, etc. [image] The original newspaper style. Not sure of many webcomics that do this. [image] More webcomic style. Better for scrolling on mobile devices. …
I'm not as worried about whether or not anyone would like it as I am the best way to execute it. Like what genre would it be posted under?
I'm definitely gonna post them somewhere... Just wanna know if Tapas is a good place to do it lol
I know, for example, Silent Horror doesn't have a recurring cast, but it does have a recurring theme. If this goes the way I imagine it, there will be no recurring theme. Just whatever I thought up that day. Haven't seen anything like that.
I asked a similar, but different question about posting short, unrelated comics on my main series between legit installments and hiatuses and was told that wasn't allowed. I figure an entire series made of unrelated comics might straddle the same line.
