I did the same. When I was in elementary school, I tried to draw in a chibi style because my best friend was doing it and I thought she was a better artist than me. They never came out quite right. Copying isn’t a bad way to start, but yeah, figuring out stuff like anatomy is a must if you’re really serious. I’m happy to see you make those strides!

I took some classes at one of the art colleges near me four years ago, where I was forced to do life drawing and use a bunch of different materials. I learned how to really study.
...Definitely could have learned that in a much cheaper way from Proko or something, but I didn’t care before then. Who needs fundies to draw anime boys and dragons?
