I Use To Do Graphic Novels, you?

Hello, I have been a reader here since May but just started my new web comic last week and did my 2nd posting today.

I released a graphic novel this October and have been slowly selling it at conventions. It took me ten years of my life, although I have to give myself some credit in that I had my daughter over 7 years ago.

So I recently decided to try something a little different. Something I can post frequently and just maybe get people to care about my characters. Some that I have had for decades. I have built up so much material that I haven't gotten to yet but maybe Tapas will be a better platform for me to get them out quicker.

What has been some of your experiences before Tapas? Has this site been a motivator to get your stories done faster?

From 4-5 years back till now, I've made and published 3 web games. I am still really proud of my works even though not all good, they are all unique and done with care. However being a one-man-band I've been taking way too long to to work on my games, and i got tired of the long process so I decided to shift my focus to webcomic. Making games are still fun but it's always a hobby for me.

And now, the time has come for me to do what I really want to do...There's a world in my mind I wanted to show and its stories I wanted to tell... and doing webcomics can fulfill this passion of mine! Currently on the preparing stage, the idea of showing my comic to the world is frightening but yet exciting... I gotta be brave.

I used to do novels, actually! 2013-2017 was my novel-writing days, but none of my works ever reached till the end. Makes sense, I was like 10-12 during my most active days on Wattpad, I was all over the place, lmao.

Currently I'm planning on turning those novel ideas into either comics or visual novels (doubtful, making games takes a long time, but it'd be fun to dip my toes into VNs!)

Honestly? Coming out with episodes for comics DOES take longer, but I enjoy doing it more. I'm better at illustrating scenes than describing them with words, even if my English is pretty good.

Back in 2006 I use to draw fan art of superheros, like Spider Man, Batman & Superman. I grew tired of drawing those characters due to, that was the only characters I could draw at such a young age I decided to make my own characters. After weeks & months of making them. I was finally happy. At first they we're short form stories, about 24 pages long. But after many years of redesigns, break downs, and depression. I finally decided to stop treating it like a hobby and take my dreams and goals and artwork more seriously! Reinventing the series, stories & characters. Turning it into a Graphic Novel Series. Just recently I started posting my work. And It feels very good!

Web games, that sounds like a lot of work but awesome! It is really hard doing it all yourself. I feel that all too well! Preparing is good for here as well. I'm sure you will find the willpower! I wish I got more produced before I started. I wrote down lots of plot but got too excited to get my first one up. Now I am frantically trying to get an update done for each week. At least the holidays are almost over so I can focus better!

being able to write a story is fundamental, whether be novels, comics or animating. Glad you got a start when so young! I wrote and illustrated a 90 page comic in High School but never got it put together. I put it aside and worked on a more simple comic that I put out in 2010. Then after that i completely redid my original story, the GN I mentioned that I put out this October.
Putting out a webcomic has been challenging in that it is making me fulfill a deadline. I like that though. I just hope I can keep it up!

Keep it going though and get your first posting up when you can!

I used to use Smackjeeves and DrunkDuck (now theduckwebcomics) and still do use the latter. But I just put up this year's pages here as a way to expand readership. The forums here have been really nice to chat, check out others' work and share my own I still kind of prefer the way Smackjeeves was as a website before the giant recent change but I do like this one well enough and I really like how active it is here :

Thanks for replying! I really feel this because I got a lot of attention doing fanart but it just wasn't very satisfying. I still do one here and then but I have always held my characters dear and really just wanted people to know these personalities that consumed my mind.
Starting small is important and I had to set aside my epic graphic novel to do something more simple just so I'd finish it.
Glad you are getting it out there and I am happy I am as well. Keep it going!!

I almost forgot about those sites! I have been enjoying Tapas so far and find it easy to use. I'm really happy that my first topic on the forum got quite a few good and interesting replies so far. No trolling so far too!

Yeah this is probably my favorite part The community here is really good. I'll have to check out webtoons as well sometime. One thing at a time though so I don't start forgetting things lol

I've also written a lot of stuff from 2013 to 2017 that now I'm considering what to do about

So far I made one of the few I finished into a physical book.

That led me to make the courage to start posting on Tapas.

Which is building some attention over the book.
