Ice Cream Truck Of Doom Remastered

Hi

This is a thread to let everyone know that I plan on remastering earlier pages of the Hawk and Flo Adventures Ice Cream Truck Of Doom storyline. The dialouge and story will remain the EXACT same however some quality of life improvements such as improved shading, bigger borders, rounder speech bubbles will be implemented.

Here is an example of a recent remastered page.

The objective is to get the rest of the comic up to scratch with the later chapters. I improved very quickly in a relatively short space of time, as a result most of the comic doesn't need re-doing and can stay as it is, but the earlier pages need some help In my opinion.

It will be hard work but I feel this will be necessary for the series going forward if i'm to have one Hawk and Flo Adventures comic on Tapas, Webtoon and Comic Fury. If anybody would like to make suggestions or leave feedback now is the time. Speak now or forever hold your peace ^^;

Do you do live figure sketches? As a reference? It may help to better understand anatomy and make characters look more natural. Even sketching out items might also be helpful moving forward

I do sometimes, in later panels it shows more than in the earlier panels though. I plan on taking a break once the Ice Cream Truck of Doom storyling has completed because i'd like to get a new laptop, try different drawing programs and just experiment as opposed to always going up against a deadline.

I think the remastered version looks great! Much cleaner and more readable. I think the only things I would change are picky typography things. A rule of thumb for speech bubbles is that the text shouldn’t touch the edge of the speech bubbles, so in that top right panel I would either make the bubble bigger to give more room around the text, or shrink the text to have the same effect. Another good rule to follow is to avoid tangent lines; the bubble line running along the border. It’s best to either fit them in the panel with some space between them or overlap them. Again, these are small nitpicky things, but otherwise everything looks really nice! You did a great job making the dialogue and the art look cleaner.
