Off to a nice start
The most important piece of feedback I have is be careful about using colored text. The yellow text is almost impossible to read in the first several panels until the last few where it's against the dark back drop. Especially the panel on page 2 where you have yellow text overlapping the yellow sun. The pink is a little easier to read but is still challening in areas. the pink text in panel 3, page 3 is almost impossible to read as well. Part of it might be alleviated by using opaque speech bubbles instead of transparent ones (since they let what's in the background dictate how legible the text is in any given panel). Another idea to play with is maybe using colored speech bubbles rather than colored text. Or maybe a mix of both
off the top of my head, this comic uses a lot of different colored texts and speech bubbles strip to strip, but they always make sure the combinations used are legible:
Other than that I love the way you've rendered the characters, and the tornado looks really cool too
