If there was an impending nuclear attack

... and you had a bunker with space, air and supplies for three people (which would be you, your partner and your child)... but none of your neighbours had a bunker (despite you telling them repeatedly to do so for years)... and your neighbours are begging for their lives to you and the bomb is due to hit in 15 minutes, what would you do? Oh, and one of the neighbours has a 6 month old baby.

My own answer - I would give up my place for the baby. I'm not sure I could live with myself, or want to be in a world where that happened.

What would you guys do? NOTE - inspired by an episode of the Twilight Zone dramatized in a London stage production which I reviewed recently -

If we're basing this on ourselves, I wouldn't have a partner (ace and possibly aromantic so that'd make like zero sense of me) and I'd let in the baby. This is all just talking as of now cause in a situation like that, I can guarantee you I would not know what I'd do.

Extreme situations like that make people unpredictable.

I wouldn't let them in because they might be armed and are planning on killing me and my family for the bunker.

Knowing me and my family, we wouldn't have even told anyone we were making a bunker in the first place. It would've been a secret between us because we know this situation would come up, and none of us would want to make that decision.

id prolly save the baby provided i could get the supplies for it from a neighbour, but nobody else. like, i cant, can i? its built for three people, i got three people in here, ill take a baby bc its a damn baby but i wouldnt give up my own space in my own bunker w my own family bc my neighbours wouldnt build their own (like in reality i totally wouldnt build a bunker jus bc my neighbour told me to, but hey...). if i brought in anyone else, wed all die. if i couldnt get the supplies for the baby, i doubt id take the baby - no nappies? no baby formula? itd die. and then wed die from infection.

I would be with my parents and siblings rather than a spouse and child (I'm not interested in either of those things), but that would only make me more sure of my decision.

Honestly, I would be disinclined to feel sorry for someone who repeatedly ignored my warnings and then asked me to go and kill myself when they realized that I was right. The child doesn't garner any extra sympathy from me because it's the only one of the lot with a sure ticket to heaven and it won't suffer from anticipation, like I would.

Same--as much as I'd love to have the baby be saved the matter of the fact is you need too many resources to care for one. It would cry all day and be a huge drain on food and water supplies while being of no contribution to the post-apocalypse survival effort.

Considering the fact that we’ve been telling them for years, it was their fault that they chose not to have a bunker for whatever reason (it’s implied that they COULD have but they forgot or something). So no. I don’t want my family to go through the pain of losing me. If I could choose between hurting a stranger or hurting my family, it would be a stranger.
