If you could be a deity

Believe it or not, I came up with this question for an interview =P . It inspired my poem "Ballad of the Nascent Gods", but given that it's fun to ask to strangers, I figured it couldn't hurt to drop it among fellow storytellers.

If you could be a deity--the god or the goddess of any place, region, element, concept, any worthy thing you can think of--what would you choose as your domain, and why?

You only get one domain in this scenario, so really give it some thought! I'll give my answer after a few people have responded; I don't want to spoil the responses with my perspective and conceptions.

Well I'm gender neutral so I'm going to post one for god and goddess.

God of Music - I will only accept the right sound of music.

Goddess of Darkness - Ill be able to hide in the darkness

Reasoning, I'm a music addict and I'm a snob when it comes to my music. It needs the right sound to it. I love the dark, I'm a loner so I will be happy to hide from people.

I'd rather not be a god. All it will do is screw things over. Many have played god over the course of history and they did an awful job compared to the present God. lol

I'd decline the job of god. Maybe I'd rather be an immortal? I dunno. But that would hurt so bad seeing your wife, children, granchildren, great grandchildren, and so on... grow old and die.

Rather than being a deity, I think I'm going to be more of a 'devil on the shoulder' kind of being. But instead of coaxing people to do evil stuffs, I'm going to roll my eyes at each and every people's actions, click my tongue, then sigh: "Seriously?"

It's hard to say without sounding a bit pretentious but...... I think I would really like to be goddess of Kindness

I don't want to be in charge of running something semi-tangible like Time or The Earth or Thoughts; that sort of command would be something I'd be scared to touch, honestly.
I'm not always as kind as I wish I could be, so to be able to embody the ideals of sometimes warm, loving kindness, sometimes fierce, vulnerable kindness, sometimes angry, protective kindness, sometimes heartbroken, empathetic kindness -- kindness to others and kindness to self and kindness to loved ones and kindness to enemies -- would honestly be.... a privilege, I think? I would like to have the power to strengthen others to be kind when it's hard, and to grant clarity in situations where the kindest actions aren't necessarily nice or polite.

God of Cats, but not like a god for cats but rather a protective deity for cats. I would guide home those who are lost, give shelter to alley cats who have no place to go, pet those who need comfort etc. Big cats also count, so I would also definitely heal the wounds of a hurt tiger and hide rare cats from the eyes of poachers.

Some of you might find this silly but what can I say, I'm a cat person.

I'd be the God of Umbrellas. My power would be basically making Sod's Law happen. Forgot your umbrella? Haha, I'm making it rain. Didn't buy a lottery ticket this week? Guess what? Your numbers won the jackpot. Changed queues? The woman behind you is at the check out now.

God of ideas that lead to communication, expression, charisma in the form of art like poetry, literature, art even as far as to go for writing textbooks and displaying math.

Why? Mainly because I'm an awkward Frick, but also because it ticks me off when people have ideas but never take them into fruition

Like that guy who tells me all the great ideas he has for a story, but never actually does anything with it

With my newfound ideas into communication/expression powers

I will implant an idea into those people's heads that maybe "hey, if I actually turn my story into something I'll be somewhere" and actually have them do the thing already

I'd also be better at implanting ideas and expressing myself as well, I'd be able to be a better writer because I can directly control what ideas people get from reading my stuff, and I have absolute control over my own expression, being able to convey anything by thinking ideas, abstract concepts or just rants and venting into existence so I never have to pick up a pencil again.
