If you ever went on hiatus, how long was it?

I usually go on Hiatus with the author of one of the series whenever we need the time, usually for the Holidays (2-3 months) or right now, we're going on Hiatus until June since the author is on the process of moving to a new house.

So that's it. We usually don't go further to 5 months unless necessary. As well, maybe try making shorter chapters, write like you would normally do, but split it afterwards. Make a buffer that would also give you the time to work calmly onto the next chapters, or if you make long chapters, to make an update once a month.

For comics I am actively working on, a month or two. However, I have also put some series on hiatus for much longer, like over a year. Partly because I want to work on something else and also part that sometimes my personal life has been hectic and it was difficult to focus on writing.

My life was so chaotic in 2019 and I hardly posted any art. Having time off work in 2020 to just rest and refocus helped motivate me to get back to making comics.

Definitely sad to do that to our very beloved readers and I know not everyone may be interested in coming back after almost half a year, but it always helps keep my joy for making the comic alive (and not letting it become a stress) when I know that I'm following my priorities and keeping broader goals in perspective. I was supposed to take two weeks off, ended up taking a month. Honestly, just let readers know you're on hiatus so that they know you'll be back eventually! If they love you and your work, they'll understand and be willing to wait

I usually plan 1 months hiatuses between chapters, 6 months hiatus for emergency or between "Seasons", and rarely I take 1 week hiatuses unless it's for holidays, birthday, or April fools.

When I was in the first 6 month Hiatus I've noticed lots of people subbing than when I kept to publish weekly (Since apparently people waits "New Chapter Notifications" to be "Reminded" to Unsub.).

My last episode before hiatus was Aug 14, 2018, and I came back Aug 03, 2021. Tbh I basically just quit and at some point I didn't think of returning.
Before that long break, I had some shorter ones, 1-2 weeks long hiatuses, but not very ofter (I used to upload one page three times a week so I could quite easily keep up with drawing if nothing irl happened).

That's for 6,75. I also have TMIC which I put on a hiatus at the same time, but haven't returned to drawing it, so the hiatus is even longer.

My longest pause from posting was about 6 months, plus a few others of 1-3 months now and then. They're mostly related to me moving and/or changing jobs. It's not that I stopped drawing during that time, but I don't start posting until I have a full scene done, so if I have little time to draw completing a scene can take a while.

I was drawing comics from the age of 8 and stopped before my 20s because I was focusing on music.
I picked up drawing and relearned drawing on my 40th birthday.
I woke up in a punk squat with my bandmates who were a couple of rudeboys, I "woke" up I didn´t sleep
and was really unhappy and drepressed about everything. The day I picked up drawing again changed my
life, I changed everything and nowadays (7 years later) I´m a happy person.

it would've been longer but i saw it coming so I started posting every other week in hopes that i didn't have to go on hiatus. and thankfully it was short and I've caught up with my backlog.
downside is I have to go to the hospital again soon so I might have to post every other week for at least 2 weeks.

I am the worst when it comes to this. I was an overachiever in college so I had to go on several hiatus's that has lasted a couple of years due to it. Im just now coming back to see the series and rewriting some of the content!

I'm still on hiatus...went on hiatus from my comic in 2019, coz of back/neck/shoulder/arm pain issues...was still doing other art stuffs in 2020 then hit a big stint of burnout(and possibly some depression). I'm just NOW getting back to doing art stuffs- it'll probably be another couple of months before I get back to work on my comic...

I had an almost 2 months hiatus when there's no hiatus needed. That was not a good productive time for me.

But when my story is getting into a new act, I really would want a 2~3 months of hiatus. With that time I can work on some of my side projects while planning & prepping for next story act.

I'm about to end my hiatus, its been about a year, but things like life happens to all of us.
if you need a break or things are getting crazy in your personal life you shouldn't feel bad about stepping away.
having an hiatus, has helped me take a break and get more work made on the side.
my hiatus was cause i changed jobs and i needed to focus on my living situation.

I say that you can take your time don´t feel pressure, After all is for the sake of the comic to continue and we need to rest, l work on my comic alone so I need time, as I am also planning to update episodes and plan more episodes and tweaking stuff in the story

Haven´t posted a chapter since October of the last year...so It´s been 7 months :(.
Got 3 chapters and a half done and hopefully I´m finished soon. so yeah sometimes I feel anxious because I wanna post so bad. But if we want to deliver something properly we need patience u.u

How far into the story are you? I think it might depend on how much you've posted by now if you're worried about the readers.

I have taken only 2 hiatuses so far for what I am working on (which started May '21). 1st was two weeks because of family vacations, and 2nd was only for 3 weeks just this past March to get some art time in. I don't have a buffer hardly, but then again I just pace myself to write only 1 chapter a week (2-3k words) so that I don't get burnout, and even as a reader myself I feel like if the author I follow takes occasional 1-2 week hiatuses throughout the year I wouldn't ever mind.

I'm currently on my hiatus for a buffer, although I'm holding my audience over with content. The final two weeks is where I give them a filler comic and a Naota log which will tell the audience what they're in for.

First week is this cool subscriber special where I thank people who've subscribed, while second and third weeks are art dumps. Deleted scenes and all that.

Ngl I'm scared. I've made such good progress I'm afraid of losing it. I think I'm gonna talk to my subscribers more often.
