Changing the genre probably will help. I had mine classified as drama, since it's a less crowded field. I thought that being closer to the top in popularity by genre would help. I had a bit of a surge with a staff pick. But I changed it to boy's love, which I think might be the most crowded genre, after another staff pick. That time, subs skyrocketed.
I commissioned art from a popular fan artist, and tagged her when I posted the cover of the book. She reposted my posts, so we both got a little cross-pollination from each other's audiences. I do promotions outside of Tapas on Bluesky, Insta/Facebook/Threads. My sister posted about it, and since she has a different circle of friends from me (mine have been seeing me bang on about my novel for two months), it got me a lot of new views. Weirdly, I saw an increase in views from posting on LinkedIn. I write posts about how I'm trying to increase views and engagement so that it has a work-related spin. It helps that my social and professional circles on social media have a lot of creative people.
I started posting on November 18 and I got to 100 on January 4. I now have 132 subscribers.
