Hello. Sorry but I will not read through all the comments on this topic. 147 posts are too many lol.
Anyways I had said problem from Sunday till today (Tuesday); I was flagged by apple for being inappropiate (even though I still have to say: My content is neither pornographic or overtly sexual as my definition goes, but puritanistic interpretitation may differ vastly for all it matters).
Thank you to the team that this problem could be sorted out (I censored myself a fiew days before that, I guess the flagging was send before the change but the mail handed towards me after it ... ah what ever).
Anyhow this whole problem gave me one thought that you could not provide the answer to.
I specifically asked if you could hand me statistics of the amount of users using tapas via iOS compared to Android phones. I do not know if you do not own such statitics (which I do not believe because those apps are part of the reason you can run a company and knowing the numbers is knowing what to do for the next financial and crucial step), but I guess it is legal problems, problems of protection of data privacy and/or the issue of handing out informations that are crucial as part of company secrecy. I fully understand that, but of course am not satisfied with the answer.
So for now I have these informations, that could answer my question of whether or not iTunes users make up a majority of the app users or not. Concerning their strict (and in my eyes overreactive) policy it is very crucial for creators to get to know how the dynamics of viewer counts work. Or at least trying to understand a part of it might be very helpful. I did however not dig very deep into the net and my numbers even lack varification as well as the possibility of a scientific validation.
So I got these screens of googleplay as well as iTunes this evening (21:10 MEST, August 13th, 2019):
Google:
And iTunes:
Though I cannot see at the total download count of both companies tapas-versions I can see the amount of ratings given. While iTunes-users had over 10k ratings, googleplay-users were at almost 48k.
Now this of course does not give me a hint of downloads since the sites (or at least that of google) gives us the number of over 1.000.000 downloads. They do not provide more (again, probably due to protection of data privacy).
Downloads anyhow do not give us realistic statistics of the amount of users anyways since some people (me included) use the app on more than one device, which makes the total amount a more cloudy total.
But we can at least speculate two things:
The amount of iOS app users compared to Android users having installed and having at least used it once can be maybe assumed at a rate of 1:5 (1 being Apple). Since the ratings of the app at both stores are pretty alike (around 4.5 out of 5.0 possible) I believe the grey amount of dissatisfied "not-anymore"-users at circa the same amount statistically.
Thus I can only state the hypothesis that the amount of iOS users might not that vast as we might think. I believe the amount of android users might be much higher than that of Apple users which lets me conclude that the possible loss of people who will find someones comic due to flagging is around roughly 15-20% at most.
This is only provided by the idea that the amount of iOS-raters is statistically seen about the same as the amount of googleplay-raters in ratio.
Itis just a theory, I can however of course be totally in the wrong here. And even ifI do not recommend to not do counter measures (like making censored versions and upload the real deal on an alternative plattform like discord or patreon - something I do myself from now on), I believe that the loss is not that significant high for those who are opposed to censor themselves (something btw. I give out the most utter respect!).
I wrote enough and apologise for the way to long text, but I hope this isn't just blabla which doesnt help anyone.
Have a good day ... or night ... or morning!
