I dream of writing two to three chapters a day, yet somehow, I find myself only finishing one chapter after a long week of wrestling with my thoughts. Is this the infamous newbie syndrome or am I uniquely cursed with the slow-update disease? It feels like I’m trapped in a time loop of writerly frustration!

Dude, no. It's difficult to write two chapters per day, lofty your ambitions for a second.
Think of it as training. Once you become more attuned with writing a chapter per week, then you'll find it easier to increase the number to two, then three etc.

Also learn to become ok with editing as well. Re-writing and rethinking scenes as well. That's crucial as well.

Trying to finish three chapters a day is pretty unrealistic even if you've been working on writing for a long time, so don't stress yourself. While you might be able to draft three chapters in a day, you'll often need to give your mind a break before coming back and editing them into a completed final chapter draft. I've been writing professionally for almost four years, and completing even one really good chapter from start to finished in one day is practically impossible for me

I finish a chapter in 2 months or so. Can't really hold a candle to you lol

It's fine to take a long time to complete each chapter. Heck, I want to branch out into writing other stories, but I'm either too busy or I'm too lazy, so the only series of mine that you're going to find more regular updates with is "Haru and Tsukasa", but that's because it's also a personal favorite of mine. If the story you're writing about is something that you wanna write, then you'll find yourself regularly updating it!

Honestly, I tend to make about a chapter every two days, approximately. But don't make yourself a schedule, because you'll end up stressing out and pressuring yourself. That feeling might lead to feeling obliged to write, which makes you lose inspiration and love writing more. Try to keep a good schedule, but don't put pressure on yourself and try to go on your own rhythm.

Your subscribers won't spam you hate comments if you update late, it's fine! As long as you're doing what you like and that you're proud of what you're doing, you shouldn't be worrying about the others.

You're so right! I've been working on a new novel recently that's completely out of my comfort zone, and the time between each chapter grows longer because it's something I never explored! Not gonna lie though, you have to find a story you love and that you think you can work out with well.

Christ. multiple chapters a day is unrealistic, you're going to do nothing but burn yourself out. You're going to make yourself hate creating, I seriously suggest you cool your jets and set goals a little more realistic. Unless writing is paying your bills, don't ruin your passion by telling yourself you have to do more-more-more.

Several chapters a day? That's ambitious. I gotta tell ya, it takes me between 3-4 days per chapter for my novels. Even then, sometimes they need extensive polishing to shine. I hope you're pacing yourself and taking adequate breaks. Sure, you could write X number of words a day, but getting the right words down takes time. Wishing you luck with your writing! :coffee_love:
