hi all! I'm Sarah AKA irene_addler. I'm from Kentucky in the US. I have a BFA in Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing. I LOVE to write, and have always focused more on that, but got into reading webcomics and wanted to create my own (very original, I know). So I'm fairly new to digital art, and my first comic is Mercy: Freedom.

Hey everyone - I'm Sarah, I'm from Toronto, and I've been on Tapas since mid-January. I'm a big fan of rich stories that don't take themselves too seriously, genre doesn't really matter to me but I do find myself reading a lot of fantasy!

IRL I work in film and TV making artwork/graphics for set dressing, props, etc And I've been super grateful to have a hobby as time-consuming as making a comic during this lockdown because my industry isn't allowed to work right now and my days need structure, dammit.

I've got one current comic I'm working on, which is my unwieldy, terrible baby. I've been mulling over another one for a long time but I'm gonna wait until this one has built more of an audience.

I'm not new ^_^; I'm wnqs and have been around for a few years now. I have a very long ongoing fantasy rom/com full of dragons, cats and other mythical beasties that I draw when I'm not at work

I'm not really new here, but I'd lik to introduce myself and meet you all
My name is Svenja, I'm 25 (in 5 days 26) years old and live in Germany.
I love drawing since I was young and always wanted to do something with it, like be an animator, game designer or fashion designer. Now I'm a developer ok.. I must say I work in the frontend, so it’s a bit design, but not drawing.
I have a dog, so I do a lot with her in my freetime and play videogames. Luckily my boyfriend is the same as me (except the drawing) and we give each other a lot of time to do our hobbies. And I like to watch anime
When I was a kid the others really bullied me because of my drawing, so I started hiding it. When I meet my boyfriend, he was the first one since 7-8 years who I tell it And his reaction was soo good. He really supported me and years after years I started social media accounts and then finally my own webtoon. I'm really glad that I did
But because I hiding my drawing, I don't have friends with the same hobbie. So I joined this forum And it's really fun

@desktop_dragon Yeah I started learning anatomy by brute practice really (no books and stuff). Looking back now I made it harder than necessary by not only trying to get body shape right but also learning how to draw bodies from different angles like top down and such. So there was a very irritation stage I went trough of drawing and discarding sketches. But now days I have my own tricks to consistently draw human bodie in different angles.

So I draw with a ballpoint pen, and since you can make different levels of shading with it. I start by making the veeery light
sketchy version of the body, then cover it with the necessary details. Faces being by far the hardest to get it right. But if you use the grid system (sketchy lines to cover where eyes/moth and nose placement should be) then your face will always look right. Its easy to place those 3 key aspects of the face offtrack (too low, too high and so on). As for the body/hands/ feet, as long as you have a general knowledge of where the muscles are, then its not that hard. But thanks for asking though. Just let me know if there's anything else you wanna know as I guess I am kinda of decent on the subject xD.

I could also say a few things about lighting if anyone would be interested. I think this is one of my better works lighting wise:

I have a Manchester Terrier, who is a little nightmare but I love her anyways, and a very nice pit bull. Both of them are now around 8 or 9 years old and finally calming down. I really don't miss the puppy energy, older dogs all the way!

About me uhh... I love connecting with new writers and getting giddy about stories and ideas and creation. I usually hang out on discord a lot where I mod a few small servers (I’m linaket on there, too, feel free to reach out for invites and such!). I made a Twitter, too, but I keep forgetting I have it (@bylinaket).

I’m from the American south, I’m a single mom to a teenager and a near zoo of pets (help) and I work retail. I have several degrees in English/writing, but I took a long time off due to some personal stuff. When I started writing again, I was looking for a place to share online and found Tapas! I love the community and the responsiveness from staff. Usually in these spaces, writers take a back seat, but I don’t feel that way here at Tapas!

Anyway here’s my novel... that I started 10 years ago and just restarted. I’m excited for the journey it’s taking me on, and I hope others can feel the same.
