Is it ok to use japanese sound effects even tho i live in america

I added some effects in the early pages of my comic, because they came with Clip Studio anyway, But I quite using them after a while because there are just a few SFX's in Clip Studio and I didn't want to use the same ones over and over again. I don't think it matters if you use them nomatter what nationality you have. If you think they look good in your comic you should add them. It's your comic and you decide what you do with it.

Residency doesn't play into the choice of language in the comic

Your ability to understand and accurately use the language, the intended audience, and why the language is to be used do matter

If it adds to the comic and does so without mistake or alienating the audience. Go for it. If not, it might be a darling that needs to be killed

So you want to use both types of SFX in your comic? Like in one comic at once? It will be a huge mess.

yeah dude it's a free country but in advice think does it suit your comic style if it's anime style it's ok but if it's not anime no it doesn't fit but if you make a character watch a tv show about anime it's ok

Do you mean sfx written in Japanese or sfx made in similar style or what?

it would be like baruto generation where it would have the japanese sound effects with the translation right under it also it would'nt be like a huge mess it would be like small words i guess its kinda hard to explain without an example as a manga reader i understand what you guys mean my art is very japanese influenced with my own twist on it and my audience will be at least i want it to be all over not just in america

Because I'm not Japanese they don't look special or significant to me, BUT I know that a few of my Japanese friends absolutely hate seeing Japanese sound effects in Western manga, because most of the series they have run into with them, it's very common for the sound effect to used in the wrong way or is the wrong sound effect for what is trying to be portrayed.

They explained that It's very jarring and completely immersion breaking. Sometimes even deal breaking for if they will continue to read the series.

Why not? If you feels they fit the theme then do it. It's your own manga anyway not a comic right? But you have to make sure that you get the sfx right. Also, I think Japanese SFX might give more impact than English one. Oh and you might have to including some translation if necessary but yeah I say, go for it.
