Is posting on Wattpad a good way to grow readers?

Hi everyone!

I'm a recent novelist (author of Veiled Deceit) which is currently on Tapas and RoyalRoad as of current. In regards to genre, it is an action fantasy and thriller/mystery novel with some romance in a few arcs.

If possible, I just wanted to know if posting this on Wattpad would be an optimal idea to gain readers and potentially a fanbase? Because from most posts like Reddit and other reviews (as well as my own brief research on the sight), I've heard mixed opinions and was hoping to get clarity as well as hear others experience on the platform with their novel. Hope someone could clarify, thank you!

Used wattpad back in the day. Didn't really do much. Or my writing might just suck

I used to post on Wattpad, long before it got bought by Webtoon. Back then, the site was easier for me to navigate and find all sorts of story genres, including new writers.

But now, in my personal experience, if you post there, yours might not get seen via algorithm since they heavily promote/prioritize the premium Wattpad authors' works there, their promoted roster of specific genres, & umm...lots and LOTS of ads (even when I'm just trying to read a non-premium story). That was just my personal experience after trying to post again on Wattpad last year, from what I remember. So, I just stopped using/going on Wattpad.

Still, I haven't checked out Wattpad this year so far, so maybe things have improved at least a bit since then.

I'm currently posting my story on both Wattpad and Tapas, and I prefer Tapas soooo much more. Wattpad is not easy to navigate, there is almost no way to socialize with other writers or readers, and it's very difficult to get noticed on Wattpad. I have less than one percent of readers on Wattpad compared to Tapas. If you are already posting your story on Tapas, I would say don't waste your time on Wattpad. I started with Wattpad and then moved to Tapas, so I really just post on Wattpad out of habit rather than it's actually doing much of anything.
