It's not normal.
There's a thing on Discord as well, where people lately are getting a few DMs from randos on the Tapas server asking to collab or if they'd be interested in buying their art for commission. It's really unprofessional.

Same goes for the people (especially those in the contest) who are DMing creators and readers, asking for sub4sub.

if they're not giving you a ton of info or things seem too sus best to just go with your gut if it's feeling off

sometimes it is a matter of poor communication but if they want to properly go about seeking people for a collab they'd use the available channels like the forums or the official tapas discord or have more detailed info about what it is they're trying to request

might also help to see if they've got a history of activity anywhere else and how long the accounts been around. there's only so many ways to vet an account but something you just gotta take the chance with saying no then get caught up in an even bigger mess

@BreeBaxter Huh. Probably best that you didn't take the bait. One of my friends was once locked out of their Steam account because they provided security information for someone impersonating a moderator and claiming that they had a ban pending.

The Internet is a scary place, people. Don't ever click a link or respond to a message you don't recognize. Also, if anyone needs a free security app on their phone, Sophos Intercept X is amazing. (Not me throwing in product placement. I should be paid for this).

i use to get a lot of that junk on deviant art they wanted me to be an artist for some disney card game, but I checked the link on a website that inspects for viruses and the URL had an address for a trojan virus ,so make sure to do some research when you see stuff like that
