Hey all! I'm the lead writer at Nodnin Studios. Nodnin Studios is an independent video game studio working on their first game, Nihmory. We're looking to work on a webcomic and potential visual novel to help promote our game leading up to its demo release. So, I'm here seeking out an artist that would be willing to help us create a webcomic! (And if there's interest, the webcomic can be turned into a visual novel at a later date).

Ideally, we'd like to be able to release a couple of episodes a month. We don't have a set publication date, so there's plenty of time to discuss logistics and get a backlog of stuff going so we can start publishing regularly and on a schedule. But we are looking around getting things going in the spring - probably around April.

This will be a rev share deal with a 70/30 split, 70% going to you, the artist for the webcomic. A different rev share would be offered for the visual novel, to be discussed in the future when we get to that point.

We don't have a set art style in mind, but you can see the art style for Nihmory at our Patreon44 page (along with some interviews I have done and other cool content!) Something similar would be nice, but not a requirement.

Now that I've got all those details out of the way, let me talk about the webcomic we'd like to create!

Our webcomic - with a title still in progress - is the prequel to Nihmory. It is set in a sci-fi world thousands of years before the game Nihmory begins.

In an age where most of the natural resources had been depleted after centuries of abuse and planetary neglect, a struggling world is visited by an errant visitor from another plane, only to be locked up and experimented on by the residents of the world. Over the years, a new energy was discovered and harvested from the visitor, bringing forth a dawn of new technology, allowing the residents of the world to build floating, domed cities to protect from the polluted environment around them.

But after years of abuse and turmoil, through rage and sorrow, the visitor’s energy grew, until one fateful night, it broke free from it’s prison and tore open portals to the plane it had come from. Under the direction of the visitor, five elemental titans stepped through into the world, tearing into the floating cities and the land around them. In an effort to end the planet, the five titans came together with the visitor, forming a source of great form of energy to crash through the remaining cities. With the last of their energy, they let loose an explosion that rocked the world, flinging elements of the titans all over the world where they became embedded into the ground. The visitor fell to the ground, falling into a long slumber and vanishing down into the core of the planet.

Our webcomic will focus on the errant visitor that comes to visit the world of Nihmory and will end at the war that destroyed life as they know it. There will be a lot of sci-fi and fantasy elements to the comic, including other species of humanoid creatures and advanced technologies.

So, if this sounds like something you're interested, feel free to send me a message here! While we're here seeking an artist for our webcomic, there is potential for you to join our team in many other ways! Not only are we seeking artists to help us bring our game together, but we also have room to welcome writers, programmers, musicians, and voice actors! You may inquire with me any time and I will be happy to go into more detail. But for the sake of this post and obeying the terms of the forums, I will only be discussing our need for an artist here

Hi Kayly! Thank you for sharing your project with all of us and for the opportunity! Reading your post and checking your patreon, I feel really engaged in your story and definitly feel like helping you!! I'm currently finishing working as a lead webcomic artist for Webtoon and looking for a new project to lead to success starting February/March 2022 ! Here is my portfolio and more informations about me : http://lauricaandrian.com20 ; Don't hesitate to contact me if you feel interested! I'll be happy to chat more

Hey there! I will send you a DM here

Also I received some questions that I figured were worth posting here as well in case similar questions come up!

Scroll vs Page Formatting: At the moment, we're taking into consideration that potential readers will be using the app, so we have scroll formatting in mind, but we are flexible and open to discussion about this.

Length of Monthly Updates: We are flexible on length as well and want to work with an artist to help us split our script up into episodes that make sense. Webcomics are a new medium for us as we are considering ways to help promote our game when it's ready to be released, so ideally, we would love to be able to discuss with an artist who is familiar with webcomics, which is why we've chosen to reach out publicly as opposed to putting more work on our current artists. This will also be dependent on our publishing schedule. Ideally, if we go once a month, we'd like things to be a little on the longer side to be satisfying to readers. That being said, if we can publish a little more frequently to hold their attention, we would like to do that as well. Again, all this is very open to discussion as we're in the early stages of developing the webcomic and mainly just have an outline available. As the lead writer, I'd like to be able to develop and flesh out the story with the artist as opposed to just handing over a script and say draw this lol

With a once a month updated, we see this webcomic going for at least 2 years with potential to be longer. Naturally, a twice a month update would be at least a year. Basically, we expect a minimum of 24 episodes, with likeliness to go longer, but probably not much shorter.

How Revenue Will Be Generated: Rev split of 70/30 will be whatever is generated from the comic, whether it's through Tapas or other publishing sites. On Patreon, we will likely publish a tier specific to the webcomic and would offer 70/30 on that as well. And of course we will offer a contract to be signed by both parties if an agreement is made.

Please continue to send me any questions you may have!

Also, I'm most active on Discord, so feel free to reach out to me there: kayylynnx#9991 (no capitals)

Still open to consider other artists if anyone else is interested
If messaging me on Discord, please let me know you are coming from Tapas. Do not send a friend request without sending a message first. I typically delete random friend requests with no messages.

Hi, how many pages/panels of webcomic you planned to have?

This is answered above

Sorry if you misunderstood, not asking for updating schedule, but asking for total estimated pages or panels. Example, your drafted script have around 100 panels, or 24 episodes which contain average of 20 panels etc.

At the moment, we have no set # of panels - this is flexible, tl;dr, a longer length if we only publish once a month.
