I never realized how average my art skills were until starting this project.
CRUD! is a project that's far to dear to me to drop so early, but...

It's kinda humblin'.

Aside from that I will still like critique on my comic

hi Nivardy!!

this is absolutely a good first step - i think getting started with a comic youre really passionate about is a brilliant way to start learning and improving and becoming the Comics God you wanna be. remember, as you push on with this comic and discover your style, that you can reboot sometime when youre more confident with your art. whats important now is pushing on to create Something, preferably complete, and to put passion into it.

two quick tips for 'crud!'

1: you might wanna try using a layer of fill shading or some heavy blacks - they could really lift some of your panels and add interest. shadings great for keeping a reader's focus and guiding their attention. it doesnt have to be anything severe - just a feint blue overlay layer blocking out shadows could do a world of good. this resource might help

2: study colour theory itll change your life. (sorry i only have on resource, i didnt seem to bookmark a lot but there are a lot of great resources on colour theory on dA and tumblr and the one i DID link you is a doozy imo)

Hey Nivardy,
Even the best start from somewhere small. As long as you try to keep improving is the best attitude to have! On a side note, I think it's easy to be too hard on yourself. It's super easy to compare yourself with someone who's "better" but not see the journey it took to get there. Don't drop Crud if you're still passionate about it because getting better at art requires you to keep going. Do your best now and even if you hate the art later, it'll still be alright because you tried your best at that moment. Plus, there's nothing stopping you from doing a reboot.

The good stuff:
Your panels and reading order is clear.
You have a good understanding on how to use light & shadow to create mood.

Things to work on:
Line weight and line quality
anatomy
color theory
more textures. ex. Grass isn't smooth.

I totally appreciate this.

The specific things I need to work on kinda made me laugh, because they're things I winced about while making the comic, especially the grass texture.

I also think that your comment about not seeing the amount of hard work others went through to get to where they are, was very emotionally intelligent. I do struggle with perfectionism, not only by comparing myself to others but also grossly underestimating the amount of work I need to put in.

It's so much more easier to feel bad about your art than good sometimes. I struggle with perfectionism too, so I have to always tell myself that there's no such thing as a perfect piece of art because there's always something to improve.
