July = low traffic month?

Hi Tapas Community!

I have a Webtoon comic with 20K subscriptions and so far I was getting about 50-80 new subs a day. Since about a week I get only 1/3 of the subs. I wasn't promoted ever, I guess I was just lucky. In January it was also extreme bad in terms of growing. Is everyone on vacation, could it be because of that? Does anybody here have experience regarding low traffic months?

I really try to figure out if I'm doing anything wrong because of the bad growing. I upload 4x a month, same as always and the story hasn't changed. I also noticed a little less comments/likes than about a week ago.

I believe it's probably due to the vacation period like you said. Aside from that I have no other explanation really

It's frustrating to keep up if you see such a sudden drop in subs/views. I know I shouldn't complain because my comic already has a very high amount of subs, but it bothers me a lot because I always think it has something to do with me. Thank you for the reply!

I also think, it's mainly because of vacation time. Plus I think, when you grow very fast, at some point you will reach a plateau. Because the ratio from those already subscribed to those who aren't, changes.

I noticed something sort of similar in my story (I'm only at 100 subscribers, but I was getting around a subscriber or two per day, but I leveled out in the past two weeks-ish, with only a handful joining since early July). I'm guessing when August rolls around and schools start back up the numbers will come back. We just have to push through until then!
(Also super congrats on having so many subs! I can never imagine having that many!)

Yo're right, it drops at some point, but not from 80 subs to 20 from one day to another, it's a process.

Lets hope that the readers will return. But the numbers are very low in general since some months, I looked at amazing comics which I read and they barely get any new subs unless canvas is promoting them, it scares the hell out of me because I only upload on webtoon and I really want to start a kickstarter campaign when I reach enough people..but maybe this idea is not the best atm.

I read somewhere that July is the worst month for webcomic traffic, so you're definitely not alone. Don't get discouraged, just keep going!

I actually started growing faster this month but that's only because I was able to get more active on the other sites that host my comic as a result of leaving Webtoons, I simply have more time available to read other people's comics and novels. July is a lower traffic month in comparison to April or June which is why this instance has come as a bit of a shock for me.

Things do get a bit quieter around now as people go on holiday, Summer is a good time overall for Webcomics as there's no school but there will be some quiet weeks where people decide to go on holiday, It's late July ATM so things are quieter now than what they were at the beginning of the month. It sounds like you're doing really well 20K subs is great!

I decided to take a break untill the end of august because peolple might be on holydays, Even if they have more time, maybe they don't have enough internet connection to use for webcomic if they are abroad.
