Ok thanks a lot ! (30 pages seams a lot, but I'm use to european comics that have a lot of panels in one page)

Chances of actually winning competition mixed with the number of projects I have to do before then makes entering impossible, but I always love to see more contests for comic creators outside of Japan spring up.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm starting to think it may be better to just focus on doing a oneshot before winter break ends. Especially since I'd have to get used to Medibang's program before entering.

I like this idea. I specially like the feature artist thing, in other webmanga magazines like Saturday AM they don't have that. And I don't have the time to actually work on a regular basis(monthly), so I find that really useful.
I would like to participate in the future.

!!!! That's awesome!!! I can't wait to see it~!!!

I'd love to have you~! Yeah, I thought for a lot of us it'd be really hard to keep up with a monthly obligation, so a couple of alternatives were necessary. There's a few other things I think I'll add to the official submissions that have been suggested too. I'm also hoping webcomic artists really take advantage of putting their ad for their comic into the magazine. They're the kind of advertisements one enjoys seeing and it's a good way to contribute without having to do a lot of work.

Important update! Just found this on Medibang's tumblr

1 month later

Great that you have posted about it, I was just about to, so let's just push it to the frontpage again since the deadline is nearing smile

I think it's definitely worth the try, at least in the sense of getting exposure for your comic by being a contest submission. Just don't get discouraged by any comments you may receive, the community there is a bit weird...
I tried tagging one of the comics I had posted there before with the contest tag just to try it out and received one of the most hilarious comments I had ever seen XD Haha, it's too hilarious not to share it (hopefully the author will forgive me):

your work is not manga. why are you submitting to a contest your work doesn't apply to? your artwork is amazing without a doubt but have some respect for manga and submit something that fits SHONEN JUMP.

Well, now I'm totally tempted to submit all of my Trivia from Nature comics there just to irk this person smile As much of a meek guinea pig as I am, I LOVE teasing people who know best in the world - is there anybody else who can submit their comic that's "not a manga" in this person's view? laughing
( `‿´)ψ

Uh, I think the comment isn't without some merit. Maybe it's lacking tact and insight.

From I understand what Shounen Jump stories is suppose to embody these three themes, Hard Work, Victory, and Friendship. Of course the Hard Work one doesn't to be much of a problem.

Well yeah, but the contest rules have no limits to whatever the theme or main characters of the entry can be (and the funny thing is that the author of the comment wrote it under my old comic (that wasn't even an entry to the contest) that actually was a very Jump-like comic with all the friendship and never give up themes, just that the characters were dragons laughing )

@bakasama25 Your comment made me look properly at the values and themes of my Trivia from Nature episodes (not sure if you're familiar with it, it's all oneshot stories from animals life http://tapastic.com/series/nature1 ) and most of them definitely do fit into the

themes, even if the main characters are animals. (Sometimes "friendship" is missing because there's just one main character, but "hard work and victory" is in most of them.)
Well, it's kinda off topic, but thanks for the push, I hadn't really thought much about the "themes" of my Trivia from Nature episodes smile

BEFORE I SIGN IN TAPASTIC I SAW THAT CONTEST tHAT CONTEST ON ROCKETNEWS24.com and i was planning to join there too ^_^ good luck to us guys

By the way. in the entry format requirement. it says : "Under 50 pages in length" does it mean i can make manga 10's 20s 30's pages only for a short story?

As long as the page count is less than 51, you should be good.

glad to have a reply.. thanks and that really help ^_^ are you planning to join too???

I was, but I've got a few oneshot projects that I want to put on Tapastic, so my focus is on those right now.

I'm going to participate in that contest too, though i don't know if it give time to draw all the pages but good thing i have everything else ready.

Sure, but it'll take quite some time before I can post anything. Can't afford to slow down on my studies. wink
