So, it's drama with a dash of comedy and a sprinkle of gore.
Ryouma lives with the Yamaguchi family. His dad is the deputy prime-minister of Tokyo, so he enjoys a pretty average popular-boy life until he gets betrayed by his best and only friend, Daichi.
Mistreated by bullies, sick of life, Ryouma wishes to die.
Instead, the ground opens up and swallows him whole like he committed a sin.
Down there? Hell? No. It's a whole other world.
The underworld.
A world where different species reside, some living among humans in the human world. Ryouma's reality gets twisted with every minute spent with the creatures of the underworld.
Ryouma finds that the Yamaguchis are actually his adopted family. And his real family was murdered by his psychotic elder sister.
Not to mention, since his family, the royal family, is gone, Ryouma is the heir to the throne.
His elder sister is out for his head and he is tasked with defeating a world - wide conspiracy, beating her, and securing the throne for himself. Lest his sister turns the underworld, his true home, into her personal playground.
Problem is, he's a coward and egoist by default. Ryouma doesn't even want the throne; just a peaceful life with his dysfunctional family.
Surrounded by weird brothers, hot-headed sisters and a creepy father, all adoptive, Ryouma is forced to play the 'good king'.
