Ye-Jun snorted. "You? A woman? You’re just a little girl."
"What do you know?" she exclaimed, her pride stung.
He chuckled. Then, he stepped in front of her. Very close. So close she could smell his cologne—a warm, rich, intoxicating scent.
Wait! What is he doing?
He lifted his right hand, the one holding the water bottle, and leaned even closer to her, reaching past her to place the plastic bottle on the table behind her back.
She could feel the heat radiating from his body. His face was inches from hers. She was breathless and completely motionless.
He didn't step back immediately. He looked down at her. She barely lifted her head to meet his gaze. The tension was painted all over her face, she was certain of it.
His free hand moved slowly toward her neck. Goosebumps erupted across her skin.
Don’t you dare…
His fingers brushed against the silk of her blouse. He hooked a finger through one of the ribbon strips of her bow. And then, maintaining intense eye contact, he slowly pulled it down, untying the bow completely.
Noelle gaped, flushed, and paralyzed. Even her inner voice went utterly silent.
"See?” he murmured, a wicked, triumphant smile playing on his lips. “A woman wouldn't have blushed like that just now."
