I'm not brushing it off because it's not original, I'm brushing it off because.. well, I have a lot of issues with it
Volunteers, so this is unpaid until the later mention of Patreon. Got it. Why should they volunteer to begin with? Why should a creator potentially take time away from their own projects in favor of this?
Now, the mention of Patreon.. that tells me that you think this is gonna be big enough to have people pay to support everyone involved. I think you're overestimating how well this is gonna go. But there's no mention of how many people will get to be involved! No mention of how spread out the pay will be if you have a large enough group of collaborators, the more on the team, the more thinned out the money's gonna be spread.
That's not much of an extra incentive tbh and I get where you're coming from. Everyone involved will bring an audience and with everyone's combined views, there's bound to be readers who haven't heard of another creator.. it works in theory, sure, but not as much in practice. I know that if I were one of the readers, I'd just be like "Cool, they worked on other stuff" and move on. . I can't imagine that that many people are gonna check out those other works.
I can rock with this, but who'd be willing to do such a job?? What standards would you set with said editors and moderators when they each have their own definition of quality and characterization? What's in it for them, and why should they care where this goes? Getting a team together in general is hard enough on here, but for what amounts to a side project that's ambitious as this.. there's nothing in this that sounds remote appealing to me on that end
That's a yikes from me, dawg.. maybe don't do that?? There's a reason why quality control and moderators exist. And this isn't to speak ill of anyone on the forums, but this is a general concern I'd have over any group project like this.
And just how long do you intend on making this series? Again, I bring this back to the potential editors and moderators. Why should they be so invested in this to stick around long enough until the end of it, whenever that may be?
My last point I wanna harp on. Again.. so many of us on here are already working on projects, and while this should work in your eyes, I don't believe it'll be all that easy.. like at all. And a lot to gain?? You're selling yourself quite a bit there. This is such an unclear project that's going to inevitably take more time and energy away from us while we could be working on adding to our own works. It's more like a lot to lose and a little to gain from where I'm standing.
It's going to become complicated because there would be so many creators working on it. Everybody's got differing ideas on what works and what doesn't, what's allowed and what's not allowed. You're not going to be able to please everyone. I sincerely wish that wasn't the case.
First off, don't twist their words like that, not cool. They're saying there's no reason to put faith in making the organization itself as there's no strong foundation behind it.
Yeah! That time and energy could be spent creating pages and ideas! Why should those things he'd be making apply only if it's in your favor?
Again, not cool to twist words around. It's just as bad to ignorantly believe that a project like this will go off without any problems. Yes, a community not able to collaborate with everyone in it is a thing that happens! And that's okay!
And this. "Why are you just seeing problems instead of seeing potential and possibilities?" There's no basis to warrant you being able to say that, let's be real. There's plenty of problems here, and you're either ignoring them or twisting our concerns to make us out to be the bad guys for pointing them out. If all you're choosing to see is potential and possibilities, you're gonna be let down. Hard. You have to look at the problems so that you can see how to best avoid them when they arise..
I'll end with this. I know it may not sound like it, but I want this to work out. I do. But nothing here tells me that it's going to.
