Also, what do you mean by black lines? Do you mean use black lines to outline the characters?

Yes the outline! I do forget some terms from time to time.

It took me a while to find a good brush size for the outline, and whether or not to use it for the backgrounds, if I should use the same color for details, etc. It is still something that I adress constantly in my work and still have problems with.

Oooooh, okay. I did use to outline my characters in the past, but grew into a line-less style since it proved to be faster to me. Then I got better over time; I can only do it digitally though, traditional is a whole other thing

Though I have to say, you did fine in the drawing; you got all her design detail in there. Plus the background fits well.
