I think it would work better on a webcomic, or even a novel if you are into that.
About do and don`t...... well:
1-dont railroad the readers into certain alternatives, that would ruin the purpose of a choose your own adventure.
2-The choices must be sort of informed, they don`t need all the info but at least some subtle foreshadowing for the consecuences of the choices. You dont want an: "you went to the bathroom and suddenly, aliens abducted....you should have eaten your cereal first"(unless is some sort of parody)
3-Keep your universe and characters consistent through the paths. Of course some events can affect the characters in different ways, leaving your friend alone talking to the demon may lead to him being corrupted, but if Jeff is a cool guy in path1 and a jerk in path 2 for no good reason, that would be weird.
A question about the paths: When the characters face 2 or more options, do you plan to write all the paths or only the ones most readers vote?
