Novel characters, sure! The love interest in an upcoming work I have planned will have some. Though I haven't given much thought as to what each design is. I just mention that he's got a few American traditional ones.
Comic characters, less likely. It's just such a chore to redraw something so often.
And I could draw the design once and just copy-paste-warp it to the character in relevant panels, but sometimes scaling up or down doesn't mesh great with the freshly drawn art that could be at various scales.
As for myself, I've got two! I actually got my first this past February before quarantine, and then I got my second just last week (with heightened covid precautions)!
(borrowing these pics from the artists alzster and soul_out_ink on insta respectively because photographing my outer arm myself is difficult)
My new one: I asked for their take on William Morris' Strawberry Thief design. The strawberry is in correlation to my husband's hometown, the area is known for strawberry production.
My first one: I fell in love with the artist's style and asked her for her take on an idea I had. It incorporates a blue tin, which my grandma used to hold sewing supplies, and an asian pear branch, which we used to have a tree in my childhood home.
