LINE Webtoon - Opinions?

I'll probably be entering again, but be a lot more chill with it this time. I worked myself to the point where I didn't sleep for 3 days at a time and my comic quality suffered. The stable pay opportunities are too good to pass up, and theres no denying the bonus of sharing your comic with more readers.

As for their mature terms, I think its based off how much happens per chapter. None of the webtoons are full on gore all the time, though allow it from time to time. It's the same thing as how many cuss words your allowed to say in different rated movies.

I just upvoted your comic on webtoons. There is no way in hell that you should have only a 7 something rating, your artwork and story are really awesome.

I started upload my Jonny Comic and Valve Comic to Webtoon not too long ago. I might enter the superhero contest.

Is there no online forum for Webtoon? I can't really find any one the main menu.

There is this Webtoonsfan.com which Mr.Stephen McCranie - btw, his comic is so good you guys should check it out. He's also the 1st contest winner. - made but it is as good as dead so basically there is none, which is the reason readers like me follow artists to places like dA, tumblr and tapastic. That being said, tapastic is such a good place to do so.:)

I posted to that webtoons forum sometimes but I never got any responses. I gave up posting there.

I have been posting to Webtoons for about a year now. I took part in the first contest with A Fool's Deception and the sci-fi contest with Robo-Rinku. I've been able to build up an audience there and they're pretty cool but there are a few who can be pretty harsh. I've started posting both to Tapastic: Rinku and Fool's Deception mostly because of their support program. I don't think Webtoons want what I've got and I don't think I would necessarily want a contract with them. I waffle on that a lot though...the sci-fi contest soured me on Webtoons. It was really hard -_- But I think so far I have more of an audience on Webtoons so it's been difficult trying to shift them over but I have some who have moved.

That can't be true. I mean, webtoons not wanting your works or something like that cuz you know, they did pick you for their top 16 entries and they didn't have any control over the rest process. Which means you coulda been the one they gave contract if you ended up top4. I think they didn't really care who won as long as it's one of the top16. Otherwise, they wouldn't have come up with that ridiculous voting system nobody even asked for.

@shandag I have a bad habit of thinking negatively even when things go relatively well -_- but here I go! They pitted me against the one that won the entire contest and the most popular artist in the challenge league, Silent Maru, who was able to get a contract for their other series. So, it's like, ya, I got into the top 16, but in a position that was near impossible to beat. It's difficult not feeling jilted and that's after trying for months to get my other series going.

Sorry to hear that. But I'm still convinced if webtoons gonna feature someone for the next few months it's gotta be one of the top 16. TBF, even though I didn't really follow silent's work then, he/she was pretty frequently updating comics right after the contest as I remember. And you know webtoons do like frequent uploader.

That is pretty cool that they kept up with it. I had a realization that I can't update once a week without the quality taking a huge dip or me getting burned out so I've decided to update once every two weeks. Maybe I'll get to the point where a weekly schedule doesn't kill me but for now I can't be the frequent updater they want.

Keep up the good work is all I can say Can't say much about robo-rinku but I do check out fool's deception from time to time. your art looks exceptionally good on mobile

Awesome thanks! I always check mobile while I'm working. Set up a webserver that automatically loads all the jpegs in my export directory. Helps my editor check on things too. It also helps her kick my butt into gear when she sees I haven't changed anything in a couple days >_>

If they actually would have said on their application page that gore isn't allowed, I would have never wasted my time applying.

I don't know a lot about hiveworks, but I figured they were pretty open to stuff. Maybe I just have a naive idea of what "gore" is but I thought that Last Halloween got pretty brutal at times. I suppose I can be a bit squeamish, but people being ripped apart by monsters seems like it would qualify as such.

wow yeah that is pretty brutal... I think it might have more to do with how much the gore happens in the story.

Eh that in and of itself seems pretty arbitrary, and if we are going by Last Halloween standards it would have to be pretty frequent before it had more gore. Not every page, but definitely frequent enough you don't forget it.

Hiveworks is definitely comes off more as a curated thing then a service to web comic artists. Not that they have to be mutually exclusive just that I imagine if your tastes don't agree you won't get far in the way of applying.

Hmmmm then I think you might be right in that assumption but I personally don't know much about hiveworks.

Haha the result of joining the scifi contest I'm afraid. The preliminaries were full of aggressive downvoters that tried to knock down any comic that had a better rating than their own.
