It's because they post unique strips on Tapastic that aren't posted on LINE. Doodle for Food does the same thing.

if shes a signed artist then she cant publish anywhere else. whereas people in the discover area signed up or being paid by line and therefore can post on both

I've been uploading my comic on LINE since june 2015 (that's almost a year).

They criticize the webcomics the same way one might bash the hell out of a "bad" pair of shoes they bought at the store. There's no reader-creator relationship, it seems like; it's a straightforward consumer-product situation.

LINE is great if you think you're good enough to start making money off the bat, and want to reach the top. It shines when it comes to building a business for yourself, they do a great job of promoting creators and their series, buuut they're not too great when it comes to the actual community.

the readers there is 'costumer oriented'. meaning, they only care about the webtoon. if your webtoon is good, they'll support you. however, if your webtoon is bad, they'll go rampage.

LINE isn't a quick answer for views/subs, however it is easier to be seen there without a ton of self promotion.It's harder to connect with readers directly

Long story short, I got more subs there in two weeks than I got here in a year. It looks like I'm track to get a thousand in about a month on the site, which seems crazy to me.

Almost all the comments are super nice and supportive, and to be honest the ones that aren't are fine. I'm not in this game to just have people lick my butt. If people want to voice their negative opinions, I'm glad to hear them. When it comes to my work, it's deafening silence I'm actually afraid of.

I think from the impression, LINE is a good place to get exposed, down and dirty with if you want some straight up feedback. XD I will try posting there after I think my comic is wrapping up. Nice and supportive people are great and cool, but sometimes they are too nice to criticize. And that is not a bad thing either. As much as I hate to admit, it was bad (not trolling) comments that hit me like a brick and made me improve. Not saying that I like to be hit with criticism though >.>

Edit: LOL I edited out some personal wordings which I found unneeded to mention BUT the original argument / statement still stand and is open for discussion. but i forgot to add reasons. I went back in to type in but the reason never showed and the edit count added. Now i believe its counted 3. >.> Need to get used to Tapastic forum. Sorry for the spam!

Note that straight-up/honest doesn't always mean useful or "right." Yes, people holding back the truth and being overly nice IS a problem, but that's just one factor. It's possible for a criticism to be honest, non-trolly (sometimes well-intentioned, even!) yet still unhelpful.

I'm getting more subscribers and feedback on there than anywhere so I'm navigating towards LINE, but I'd prefer to support Tapastic, as many say, the community is a good aspect, but sometimes I wonder if an artist needs a little anonymity to help their work flourish?

Yeah. I uploaded an episode there by combining two pages to make it looks long. I got an 8.33 rating, 8 sub and 43 views for that. No comments yet. But personally for an artist, i would suggest branching out more if we needed more feedbacks. Among the piles of rocks thrown there be a gem.

I'm not really a fan of how it only accepts jpegs. Everything I do is PNG so having to copy it into a jpeg file really affects the quality

I thought of the same thing and was very annoyed at first, but then I just thought about how it was a mobile optimized website, so jpg is the good way to go since pngs are definitely the bigger file size and take longer to load. We do the same thing when we build a website, no png file except for the logo, the rest of the image on the website has to be compressed in to jpg or gif.

Yeah, I wonder this too sometimes.

Like there are super popular webcomic series out there where the artist mainly just posts there pages with little to no episode description and little to no response back to comments left on their pages. And the fans are ravenous for these series.

I think LINE kind of prefers their artists to be a bit more detached and anonymous from their readers and encourages that through character limitations on the episode descriptions. It can also be a cultural thing like Keiiii has pointed out before. However, it's interesting to consider how possibly if artists just post and keep mostly to themselves, how much that might help or hurt a series.

I think I sorta see your point with LINE. A lot, I mean A LOT of author on LINE doesn't have a habit of replying to readers' comments. I have come over dozen of them that just keep to themselves. Personally, this habit discourage me from commenting on people's work. It's like I'm shouting into the void, hoping for the creator to reply back to me when my comment just disappeared in the sea of other's comments.

I found it amusing when I reply to every single comments on my Webtoon series, a lot of people legitly freaked out and said "OMG author notices me" or some even said "OMG I found an author that actually replies to comments" :/ It's sorta sad to me LMFAO

Yeah! I'm the same. I like actually being able to have a conversation with the creator of my favorite series, and talk about stuff going on in the comic both on the technical side, learning how they create, and fun silly comments.

Even beyond LINE I see this. There's a few creators here on Tapastic with super popular series that don't interact much and have super dedicated readers and some series with their own sites.

Yeah I think it sorta gives off this professional feel when you don't reply to your readers and be on the same ground with them. Same thing happened on DA when these popular creators who only post arts and rarely reply to any comments. But I have always been a down to earth person who likes talking with my readers, people that are popular and don't reply to comment actually intimidate me and I often avoid them like the plague.

Yea, I try to reply as much as I can, tho sometimes I just don't know what to say xD But I like every comment. Recently I replied to a comment and got one of those "omg the author replied!" I mean, shouldn't it be like that always? We all are just human beings. If you ignore the comments and just don't reply at all why would you even publish your work? To hear the praise or what?

For most people on there they just can't get to all of them which I get, but the completely silent ones that don't even put a description are the ones that mostly get to me//
