LINE Webtoon - Opinions?

I'm starting to wonder if Webtoon will pick the featured creator(s) for July.
There's no notice yet so I'm still wondering.
I know that the featured creator from June declined the offer, though.

As far as I know, if we're both thinking of the same person (and without naming names) it was someone who was asked to change the format of their comic to vertical and they were having none of that shit lol Which is fair, you're not obligated to join LINE as a featured creator, though it is a dream for some as a ways to achieve some kind of financial stability to their work.

I'm not sure it's a guaranteed thing, the monthly inductees to featured. Also, they mentioned they just launched the Patreon pledge, so maybe they'll be taking less comics as paid features moving forward.

Was there a freaking storm of downvote washed through LINE Webtoon or what? All the one that had high rating got downvoted so bad I thought I remember wrong for a second LMFAOO

Mine was around 9.16 got down to 9.13 but thanks to some other is back up to 9.14

But honestly wtf LOL To bring those series in the picture down, you gotta need at least 2 or 3 (or even 4 or 5 I think, if I do my math right) person that vote a 1 star to even take off 0.01 of their rating! O_O

It's probably just another wave from the downvote brigade. Every now and then I see a bunch of series drop, but they usually climb slowly back up. There might be other factors like some series moving to being Featured or being ended/put on hiatus that'll make ratings drop drastically. I don't really bat an eye anymore as long as it's not my series alone being pelted.

Not saying the comics deserve to be downvoted but . . . come on, the one with the biggest difference is only down by like, .13. It would be one thing if the series went from being a 9.50 to a 7.25 overnight, yeah, but when it's just by a few small points? (I mean, My Life in Japan went from a 9.40 to a 9.37? Why are we getting hung up on a .3 difference? You'll end up with a heart attack if you worry/stress over numbers that much lol)

Let sleeping dogs lie. Especially when it's not your own comic - considering half these series are getting paid to be featured and regularly posted, it's a waste of our time and effort to care when their comics rating drops (and only by a couple decimal numbers at that.) It's just not worth poking our noses into (and if you think it is, then some of y'all are looking for way too thin of an excuse to hate on another comic platform - Tapastic has nothing wrong with LINE as a competitor, so I don't see why we as a userbase should be pulling strawman arguments like these). As for the ratings system, as I've mentioned already, that's just how the comics world works, and entertainment in general. Just don't use LINE If it's not for you, but leave the other comics alone, especially when they've only lost a couple decimal points - put all that time and effort worrying into working on your own comic instead. Save your concerns for when the points actually DROP, from like, an 8/10 to a 2/10 in two seconds for series that are otherwise super popular and have thousands of votes, with no explanation otherwise.

Sorry if it's been brought up or if this isn't completely the right thread (because it's a question more than an opinion), but does anyone else ever have trouble logging into Webtoons?
I get logged out randomly fairly often and every time I try to log back in it's a real hassle because I get an error literally every time? EVENTUALLY after like 4 or 5 tries it finally lets me log in, but not before giving me a couple minutes of "Error! Please try again later."

@ranka I think so too. I haven't seen a sudden drop like this over the last 3 months or so I've been on LINE so I wasn't so sure.

@UzukiCheverie LMFAO it's why I said I'm just "curious". I'm already used to the rating system on LINE, I just brought it up because let take Scarce Clover for example. To bring that series (that has over 21k subscribers) from 9.33 down to 9.20 OVERNIGHT, it means at least over 30 people or so have to give that series a rating of 1. And there is no way it's just a simple coincidence that that many people could come across that series over night and do that. It never happened before the most is just 0.01 or 0.02 point different. it's why I got curious and brought it up :/ I think you are just thinking too deep about my words. I've never once complaint about the rating system for my own sake because I'm doing just fine, rating wise, or caring wise over that rating.

Only Miss Abbott is a featured comic and still sitting up on the rating board because the old series never got deleted. The rest of the comic that are popular in Discovery section are not paid. And tbh I love Scarce Clover, it's why I was very confused to see such a dramatic drop in point for the series. I know people said to ignore the point system, but to have such a big drop, it would still affect your mood in the end.

Also, I never said anything about hating on LINE?? I love LINE, more so than I prefer Tapastic in all honesty. LINE is my main platform that I spend most time on. If I have to settle down on 1 platform, I would settle down with LINE.

@Riko That is strange... I never got those kind of error. Only when I first log in and my browser already remember the password for me, I click log in it would give me an error to try again, and try again I did, the 2nd time usually always work. Maybe you can try to contact LINE for support?

EDIT: It happened again Scarce Clover is down to 9.14 and Short Hair down to 9.19. At this point I just feel like laughing omg wtf

Well yeah. Downvote bombs are bound to happen. I'm just glad my comic avoided it as it used to get that extremely often when I was starting out.

Unordinary really freaked me out though. I think it went down to a 6 on discover after being featured. I guess it really is jealousy.

I think Unordinary was already somewhere around 7. or 8. before it got picked for featured? Something about being downvoted in contest or I'm not sure. When I found that comic, it was already pretty low. I'm glad it got picked for feature tho I like the plot and the art ;__; Also surprisingly Miss Abott still remain on the first spot with a pretty high rating! Been doing pretty good there

I think as of right now only the one on the higher end of the rating board are affected heavily by the downvote bomb. Mine got kicked down a tiny bit, not as bad as the other that was presented on the top 5. This is my first time seeing that. Just smh at people sometimes

@69Erocento Eesh, yeah, the downvoting thing is pretty ridiculous. My comic slowly crawled its way to an 8.35 after being downvoted to a low 7, and I see that today it's been shot back down to an 8.00. ~u~; Eh... Webtoons has been an interesting experiment, but I'm finding myself enjoying the Tapastic community a lot more. That said, I do wonder how badly a rating system would get abused over here. Fortunately I can't really see Tapastic implementing such a thing.

That's disgusting. Don't worry though, once more and more people vote it'll be harder to kick down the vote and eventually they'll just stop altogether or it won't be that huge.

I put up Household Slime Mold on webtoons a few weeks ago and I've actually had a pretty good experience there so far. Commenters have all been pretty friendly and polite and downvoting hasn't been much of an issue either. I got downvoted to a 6 when I was starting out but managed to stabilize around 8.7 for the last week or so. Also, I managed to get a lot more subscribers there too. @_@ I imagine the difference comes from webtoons readers having different taste from Tapastic reads, along with a larger audience on webtoons in general. So yeah, I'm liking Webtoons so far, just wish it had the comment notifications of Tapastic.

Most webcomics don't update daily, so I'm sure they'll survive. Besides, you can add more pages per update if you space them out, and Line Webtoon readers seem to prefer that.

I've recently been uploading an experimental comic on Webtoons... Not getting much feedback yet, but it's only the beginning. Can't wait to see what happens.

Webtoon has its ups and down.

The ups is that once you get featured they spread your work like wild fire. And once it get views they will either publish it or animate it. (That's what they did to Nobleness, and I hope they do the same to God Of High School.

The down side, you can't communicate with your reader like you can do here, so far all you can do is like/post/read comics.
