I remember reading somewhere perhaps on this very thread at one time that the commentators on LINE WEBTOONS are more blunt or more likely to be rude than here on Tapastic and though I've seen it happen mainly to people with thousands of thousands of subscribers (boy do I pity them), I noticed here recently (though the comment below is months old actually) that I finally got the LINE WEBTOONS welcome so to speak. (On a side note, I have gotten some nice comments on LINE before. This is the only rude one I've gotten so far.)
sigh
If I could, I would pay someone ten times better that me to draw Life of an Aspie for me, but it's just not happening for a couple of reasons.
First, I have plans to see this comic all the way through and when I finish Chapter 6 before the year is out, I'll only be done with the first of many story arcs since the story spans three years and only 3 weeks at most have passed from Chapter 1 to Chapter 6. Basically, me trying to get someone to draw my niche comic for me even if I had money to burn would be like that 12 year old kid who says he's going to be the next great mangaka and has already planned out his 600 chapter shonen epic that will totally set the world ablaze. Now LoaA is probably going to be I'd say about 30+ chapters per "season" (that is one year in-universe) which would amount to at least 90 chapters worth of content overall when its all said and done and I've got nothing but time believe me.
Still, the fact remains that even though LoaA will be nowhere even close to being as long as some of those long running manga series out there that have like 60-80 volumes worth of material, its so niche that it would be a hard sell for any artist I would try to persuade to collaborate with me. And as for the other reason, I've tried simply working on my art skills just in general, but I'm not the person who has the patience to sit through the tedium and boredom that is gesture drawing, anatomy studies, or any of that stuff that many a artist are told they should do before they start a webcomic. (Not to mention I'm getting better anyhow just drawing LoaA consistently combined with whatever ref material I can find on Instagram or Pinterest that I might sample as needed.) I even tried to go the mentor route one time and try to find someone who's really good in the manga/anime style to try and help me get better, but that didn't pan out unfortunately.
Fortunately, my Asperger's won't stop making me think about LoaA all the time and for somebody who when Tapas and LINE WEBTOONS are combined has close to an accumulated 300+ subs for his comic, I know that it if my writing was as bad as my art, I would still have an audience of tumbleweeds most likely. Plus, the further I go with LoaA, the more people check it out and sub to it over time and the more I occasionally hear stories from subscribers who really dig what I'm doing which all helps to remind me that I've got something really special on my hands that will not only be around longer than most comics currently published on here or LINE WEBTOONS, but also the longer it goes on, the better the traction it will receive over time until it (hopefully) becomes too great to ignore regardless of the art.
