Lineless or lined backgrounds?

Hey y'all!! My comic, Ingenimia Aus, currently has lineless backgrounds. My idea for this was that I'd be able to make backgrounds quicker and it would be easier to differentiate important items/characters versus unimportant items, but I'm not sure whether making it quicker would sacrifice the quality of the page. Which do you prefer; lined backgrounds or lineless ones?

I don't think being lined or lineless affects the over all quality. It depends on the execution. Personally, I rarely see lineless backgrounds in comics so it evokes a sense of novelty to me when I see one. But even if you'll be sacrificing quality, sometimes it's worth it for the sake of practicality. There has to be some balance. It's a value judgement that totally depends on you

My style leans towards lined backgrounds just because it is easier and faster for me to do consistently. I don't think I can even do lineless backgrounds well enough

What's more efficient, really, and what still makes it obvious that the characters are part of the background and not floating in a diorama. I try to decide how much line detail something has by the distance, though only really far away and unimportant things are completely lineless.

I actually I think that line art in backgrounds are very useful because if the structure is clear you can be a little more hasty with the color, that for me is the longer part. To be sincere complex backgrounds are never really quick to do but you can mix also with flat ones sometimes. I mix a lot and I think the result is good I leave you an example to check if you like
