I understand that Tapastic's demographics (authors/artists and readers) is pretty young, but I was wondering if there are adults and/or younger people (18+) who enjoy adult stories, too. By "adult" I don't mean porn: I'm talking about stories (like mine312) aimed at adults. It'd be nice to create/join a community for us like-minded people in Tapastic and outside, if possible.

I'm down for this. My comic is still in its early stages so there's really no adult content at the moment. I'm the type that likes to take his time peeling away layers. Here's mine68 if you'd like to look at it.

Hello there!
I'm definitely interested in creating/joining a more mature community of comics within Tapastic.
My comic Shades Of Men42 does have a gritty theme and dark characters so I think it would fit in.

Should we define the goals of such community and the different ways to achieve that.
Of course I'm thinking exposure with cross-promotion and events.
Maybe a group banner linking all comics.

Maybe a dedicated site with all the comic infos.
That's a little more far fetched and more work to promote but it could be the structure of a bigger group.

On the other side, Webcomics are already a niche market, shouldn't we all work together to promote the medium instead of dividing into groups? Just thinking out lout. Of course both can be done at the same time!

I'm interested too joining a mature audience. So far I have two older comics on here that do delve in mature themes and am currently working on a buffer for a really mature/gritty/pulpy type comic.

My comic Welcome Back20 on the surface is a cute dreamworld but has dark elements such as dystopian totalitarian societies, psychological horror and creepy trippy elements. It was done over the course of almost 5 years starting when I was around 17 so it shows a lot in change.

Garden of Mold6 I wouldn't say is rated mature or has anything that would be assumed to be mature from the first look but it delves into isolation and fear as it progresses from pretty visuals.

My comic49 is definitely intended for a more adult audience despite it's very cartoony/TVA type appearance! Maybe I think a 17+ type rating--due to it being a murder mystery there will be some shown gore/dead bodies/etc. as well as adult topics including mental health discussion, complex relationship situations, sex, etc. The kind of "audience" I'm going for here are people who are nostalgic for Saturday morning cartoons, but have grown up and want to read stories that have aged with them.

I've always done mostly work intended for an adult audience. My comic Demoniac Verse20 just finished its first chapter, which started the world-building of the supernatural city of Port-Au-Feu. It's a fast-paced story that deals, even more as it goes on, with a number of issues between adult characters. I'm not much for grimdark and gritty, but I do like stories with a mature perspective that appeal to adult readers; I've grown a little tired of the too-frequent melodrama of stories for younger audiences, even if they may present themselves as ostensibly for a mature audience.

It's good to try and work together to reach an audience with a common interest although, even as this topic thus far may have shown, just because a story is aimed at and composed by adults, it doesn't necessarily provide much of a unifying factor. These stories are all very different in tone and mood, just as adults vary in what they look for in a story to satisfy them.

Hi!
I'm 26 years old and read a vast variety of comics. I've written and published a political thriller series that is most definitely for adults (facebook.com/carmencomicseries). Although, I use Tapastic to publish my all-ages science fiction series, SPACE COPZ.

I'm interested in being included in a like-minded group/community.

most people on here already know my comic Talesfromswipecity10 aimed at teens and above and based in an independent city where old fashioned rules apply and naughty teens get dragged off to Juvie road (a most unpleasant place). the tales are based around a number of family's as well as crime and police stories with a few extras thrown in like ninja cyborg woman and a super teen. now this comic is totally here on tap due to my website closing.

Welcome to the fray, everyone! So exciting to find like-minded people smile

I just started reading everyone's comics, it's a breath of fresh air to me. Like @Jrej, I agree with helping each other out by cross-promoting our comics in a variety of ways. I'd like to start easy/medium and grow from there, rather than aim for the moon only to fail smile First off, do we all have our own websites? That would make it easier to set up links to each other's comics.

We could also cross-promote here on Tapastic, maybe by making our own ad pages and have everyone put those up routinely around our regular updates. Let's say we all make our own ad and share it with everybody: we would end up with, say, 10 ads. We would then publish those ads on a rotational basis, probably no more than one ad every couple of weeks. How does this sound?

Any other thoughts/ideas?

I like the idea of starting small.
@infectedbloodcomics, @aronthemason I took the liberty to add your banners on my main site8. It's at the bottom of the home page.
If any others have a leaderboard banner to share I'd be happy to add it too.
Here's one for my comic3 if you have space somewhere to add it...

Another thought.... At some point I was doing Fan Art Friday, giving away a quick sketch to another creator.
Maybe we could do that in between each other too

I'm interested as well (and coming back to this thread to bookmark all the comics posted here lol) Most of my works are for younger audiences but Lady Unlucky44 is made for adults.

I'm currently working on Devil's League36, just the opening sequence at the moment.
Inevitably, it will explore mature themes, graphic violence and have sexual content.

To summarize, the story is loosely (very) based on 13th to 16th century world history (primarily Europe and Asia) with an emphasis on the supernatural (witchcraft, daemons & seraphs, paganism\pantheons, etc.). Taking inspiration from Dante's Inferno, biblical prophecy (Tribulation) and other historical documents, I'm attempting to compile a number of interesting events (the Crusades, the Black Plague, etc.) and interesting historical figures (Vlad Dracula, Erzsébet Báthory, Ivan Vasilyevich, Queen Mary, Jeanne d'Arc, etc.) into a single plot.

Protagonists of this story include a member of the Knights Templar (Blake Ludolf) and a Celtic necromancer (Kiera Raine).
Blake receives a particular curse mark after Kiera bewitches him into committing a heinous crime; he pursues her while evading the Knights Templar in order to "save his soul" \ "redeem himself".

Here is an illustration I recently made of Kiera28 (slightly NSFW?)

thanks bud . i no longer have a website as my hosting is closing in a few months but i will find ways of advertising your comic in mine.

That's the least I could do.
You already plugged it with the custom PJ anyway!

I'm currently revising my personal site but I do have a leaderboard banner I can provide if you'd like. It's easiest for me to email it, since images no longer work on the Tapastic forums and it's not a priority for them to fix it.

I like the idea of Fan Art Friday; I've always liked art exchanges and in that way exposing people to different art styles and artists!

Thanks a lot, Jrej! I'll start uploading banners to my own website, too. My current banner is below:

And the link you should point to is this: https://infectedbloodcomics.com/category/comics/the-green-eyed-sniper-a-short-story/?order=asc5

@hushicho : you can email me your banner at infectedbloodcomics@gmail.com

Can we first focus on uploading everyone's banner on our websites, if possible, and report back here? We can then discuss other options, like Friday Art smile I'm not trying to be pushy, just doing my best to get the discussion going without getting lost! Also, if you can't upload banners or do anything and everything we are discussing, that's okay. Nobody is forced to do anything! Just try your best to help everyone out smile

@Jrej @aronthemason I added your banners to my website: they're on the right-hand side of each page under Other comics to check out smile

Everyone else: please, chime in, I'd love to get your banners up on my website, if possible smile Make sure to provide a link to your comic/s * goes back to reading everyone's comics *

Awesome thank you. if you sort out a picture i can use i will make a poster or piece of clothing for my comic (i make them in 3d first)
