I apologize for sounding arrogant, but I don't want to waste anyone's time so here's what I'm looking for.
- Someone who wants to start a serious project/venture into making a webcomic
- Someone who is confident in their art and is comfortable drawing action-based scenes
- Someone who is adaptable and isn't afraid to give or receive suggestions
If that sounds like you, please read till the end.
I'm raseep. I'm a 21 y.o. university student who's been writing the same stories stuck in my head over and over since I was in fifth grade. I love webcomics/webtoons and would love to create my own, but I basically have no talent in visual art. The issue is that I personally feel like a lot of the stories I write would do better as a comic rather than a novel and it's been driving me crazy, so I want to shift from story/novel writing to comic script writing and see how it would do.
I'm well aware that being the artist is the hard part of the job, so any ad revenue/money made would be yours unless we were offered a platform partnership, then it would be 20% me / 80% you. I understand this is the part that rubs people the wrong way, but the reality is that I can't afford to give you a salary and I'm not necessarily in it for the money myself.
I've got three main stories that you could choose from.
The Archangel: My most fleshed-out, dear to my heart story centered around Michael and his team of vigilantes- scarred but dangerous adolescents targeting the criminal organization that hurt them in the past as they slowly begin to take over the city they live in. The unique part of this story is Michael himself- he has dissociative identitiy disorder and vivid hallucinations that both help and harm him. This would be a more gritty, mature action/crime story but nothing super crazy or NSFW.
Chizuru and the Thousand Cranes: The story follows Chizuru, a newly hired teacher at a private high school for kids with special abilities granted to them by their souls. These 'soul powers' correlate to their pasts and core parts of their lives- for example, a popular boy who was always in the spotlight gains the power to turn invisible, and a girl insecure about her looks becomes able to look however she wants, whenever she wants. Chizuru must work to help these kids with their issues while also hiding her own troubled past and ability. There are action scenes, but not a lot. More of a drama/slice of life type of story.
Camp Peculiar: A magical mystery fantasy based in a Canadian summer camp for troubled youth, revolving around Arun and his friends as they investigate mysterious occurences at camp. Curiosity will lead them to discover that the camp itself isn't really what it seems underneath the surface. Takes inspiration from local urban legends and popular tales, such as Bigfoot, Dracula, and the Loch Ness monster, all of whom the kids and counselors encounter over multiple years at the camp. This would be a more lighthearted and funny comic but still have mature themes and undertones.
These stories are roughly planned out (and could go for a long period of time if necessary) but I'd need to decide which one to go forwards with in terms of further developing the story and scripts for a comic setting instead of stretching myself thin across three stories. If you're looking for something solid, I have a first episode Archangel script here.
I'm more than willing to adapt the scripts as needed to add more or less detail, and I could also try storyboarding if absolutely necessary (but again, I have no art talent, so I'm not sure how much help I'd be.)
If you're interested, leave some samples of your art and a way to contact you. If you need to know more, you can send a reply here or DM me on discord, my username is also raseep there. Thanks for reading
