Hello, everyone! This is my first time posting to the Tapas forums ... actually new to Tapas as well. >_<;
Anyway, to jump straight to the point, I'm interested in developing a manga, either a few "one-shots" (print and perhaps digital versions, too) or an on-going web series (Tapas, Line Webtoon).
The series would be based on my life; e.g., slice of life stories, love and romance (or in my case, a lack thereof), work life, life lessons, etc., with a bit of the supernatural thrown into the mix. I have a lot of story ideas and thoughts -- jotted down on various mediums over the years ranging from MS Word, my pocket notebook, post-it notes, and restaurant napkins. The only thing I've been lacking is time (now that I'm finally done with grad school, I have a bit more free time these days) and a skilled artist to illustrate my stories ... my art skills are pretty much non-existent. ă… _ă…
In particular, I'm looking for someone who can illustrate in anime/manga style and is familiar with manga and Webtoon storyboarding, layouts and formatting. Art perhaps something along the lines of the 90's Sailor Moon anime? Also, someone with an interest in drawing military uniforms is a desirable (one character will be featured in an air force uniform on occasion).
If anyone is interested, please reply with a sample of your work and any questions you may have for me.
I'm a working stiff just like everyone else, so I doubt I can compensate at professional art studio/company rates, but I'm willing to pay what I can (and start saving a little more money in the piggy bank to do so!). Just name your price and we'll work something out!
All in all, these are personal stories based on my life, so in a sense, my life is in your hands. ^_^; My main objective is to share my stories (even if just one person ends up buying/reading the book) and the important lessons that I've learned throughout my life (interspersed with some humorous and heartfelt stories along the way).
On a side note, I currently live in South Korea, and have attended several book and art fairs, so I'd like to try to showcase the book(s) at one of those fairs someday. The next one coming up is this July actually. That being said, in addition to the books, I am also interested in developing promotional materials related to the story's main characters (e.g., stickers, postcards, bookmarks) for the book fairs, as well as character emoticons for KakaoTalk or Line.
In closing, if you're interested -- in either the short-term one-shot books (I have ideas for three books at the moment) or longer term on-going web series -- let me know and I'll send you more details re: character concepts, story/project ideas, etc.
Also, if you have any questions or need additional details, just let me know.
Thank you everyone for your time!
