I have a novel on here, "Crimson Blaze: Redemption," that I'd like to see turned into a comic. I can kinda draw (I did the thumbnails, cover, and banner for the novel), but it takes me FOREVER because I never really got the hang of proper structure. If I don't have a visual pose reference, the proportions and perspective get skewed. They also never seem to come out quite the same way each time I draw them ...
Basically, I can do one-off drawings, but I'd never be able to manage a whole comic on my own.
So I'm curious if there are any artists out there willing to work with me on this. I'd prefer to see this in manga- or anime-style, but I'm open to others. The entire first draft of the novel is done. I'm in the process of editing the story that was posted on Tapas, essentially expanding some places I had to summarize because of the 15k character limit.
You'd have full creative control over story boarding, layout, and whatever else is required for the comic to look its best visually. And you wouldn't even have to color it or add the lettering. (Unless you'd rather do that yourself, then that's cool.) You'd only have to do the line art.
By the time we really get going with this, you'd have character models to use for reference. Three of them are already done; others are in the works. This would be a long-term project. Besides this novel, I have at least three/four more for this ragtag group of misfits. Whether or not those get done, too, depends on how this first one goes, but it's definitely a possibility.
While I can't afford to pay anyone up-front, I absolutely will agree to a profit share arrangement. Besides pitching it for premium here, I'd like to publish it through other means, so your artwork can find a bigger audience. And I'm working on getting all of my other stories out there, too, so there's a possibility for other project collabs in the future.
If you're interested, it's probably easiest to message me on here. You can get me on Discord, too, but I rarely log in, lol. So let me know if you reach out there. I'm catlady1113 on Discord.
Here's the novel itself. Feel free to look it over and see if it's to your liking:
Here's the full blurb:
Hunting vampires is simple: find the target and deliver its head to the boss. Black and white, yes?
Maybe not.
Adonai has been a hunter for a long time, and he's set in his views about the bloodsuckers he eradicates. Lukiel wasn't his original target, but a vampire is a vampire. He has to go. Except ... this one saves Adonai's neck and only asks for a favor before agreeing to be killed. It throws everything the hunter believed about these monsters out of whack.
When his conscience gets the best of him, he agrees to let Lukiel find his family first. The problem? If Adonai's comrades find out, he's in a lot of trouble. So he's stuck tailing an undead creature he's supposed to eliminate while hoping his indiscretion stays under wraps.
As events unfold, however, it becomes clear Lukiel's story is more complicated than it seems - and Adonai realizes his contempt is misplaced with this particular vampire. In time, their reluctant alliance may shift into something unexpectedly friendly ... maybe even affectionate.
And just for kicks, here are the three character references I've gotten done so far:
Adonai (his weapon doesn't have to look like that ... I just suck that bad at drawing blades. :P)
Lukiel
