Hello Beppobear.
I may not apply for a position as your Beta reader but it's important for you to know the people who can truly help you. In my random notes, I fished this out. It's a small advice from the K.A. Emmons channel about process questions to getting your beta readers:
1. Will they be honest with me?
2. Do they understand my mission with this story? Do they know the deeper meaning of the story?
3. Are or do they understand my target audience? They have to understand your target audience.
4. Do they want to see me succeed?
Please explore beta readers who are even close to you (within your reach). They can help, too.
If they want to see you succeed and they’ll be honest with you and they understand the mission of the story and they understand or they are the target audience of your story, they’re the perfect beta readers. Snatch them immediately!
And after they read your story as a whole, ask them these 9 feedback questions:
1. What do you think of the story as a whole?
2. How did the characters develop throughout the story?||
3. At what point did you feel “ah now the story has really begun”?*
4. Are there any parts you find yourself skimming?
5. What was your favorite part of the story and why?
6. What was the most suspenseful moment in the book?
7. Who was your favorite character and why?
8. Were there any moments you wished lasted longer?
9. What is the theme or message you took away from the story?||
|| - these are questions that author knows wholeheartedly but wants to test it on them
*this shows whether the author started in the right place or started too soon
Qualifying for only one of the process questions, I want to see you succeed!
