I dont know if oyu are being scarstic with the first line lol

i didnt say that at all and you are putting words into my mouth. Because of the way wwebnovel works you earn as much as you sell. Saying everyone earns little is not true. you can say the average is low etc.. but its the same.

Im sure there are premium authors on Tapas that earn little compared to the authors on top,a nd they should also knwo that its 50/50 per sale of every chapter and chapters cost are decided by word count

@KRWright When I'm bored , I review people's comics over here. I just make a random thread on the forum and ask people to post links to their comics/novels. If it's interesting, I subscribe, else after maximum two episodes I leave feedback with good points and bad points.Since I'm aware many people often look for concrit and at the same time, I dont want to demoralise them, I post both aspects of their art. I also know many people post here, with the intention of improving themselves, so I also point out basic grammar mistakes and improper use of tense since that provokes me a bit?
(You didnt ask me, but I'm just informing you? )

No one was talking about the 'tipping' but instead the fuck awful conditions and clauses.

I don't know why I'm tagged in this, but good for you if you want to do free concrit of people's work! I'm sure people are happy to have that when it's gifted.

Oh yes, It makes me happy too and it's alot better than me stalking comment threads on the forum to find new comics XD

Also I forgot to mention the original thing I wanted to say is what kind of editor do they currently have? -_-

I dont know what you mean by tipping? Im tlaking about how the user before said I know how much "Webnovel pays their authors."

And i was syaing it would be diffrent reltive to how well you do on the site. just like most online platforms.

In any case, if you're making #1 slot money, you can apparently afford to pay more than a dollar a chapter, even at 45% tax. Seeing as you've just argued that Webnovel pays so well, it isn't predatory etc. that means you must be doing pretty alright.

And we go back to the bggning again lol. I have alreayd given you all the reaosons anyway im going to delete this threa dbecause it has gone way off topic and i have alreayd gotten what i came for.

I am doing very well i was just lookign for help and decided to make a token gesture. i feel like i would have been better off offering no money.

I want this thread to stay up. I think it's very educational from the point of view of what creators should and should not accept. Like a 'how not to' guide regarding contracts and offering paid work.

I've been following this thread for a little bit, and I'm a bit confused.

I'm not a novelist or anything (just a comic creator), but I have seen people talk about having editors for their comics and novels and I just...

I was always under the impression that an editor did more than just look for spelling mistakes and grammar. I thought they also helped with story layout or asking questions about character motive and how an author could tie up loose ends or things like that?

Am I just confused about what an editor actually does?

I didnt ask for an editor someone changed the original title.

there are three types of editors. Copy editor, Line editor, and a i cant remember the name but they help you look for plot holes and such

There's different types of editor. So there's developmental edits (which are the most expensive) that really get into the nitty gritty details of plot, craft, character etc. Then there's line editing - looking at sentence flow, then there's proof or copy editing - looking for spelling grammar. Each of these are different skill sets. Most editors do all of these things, but charge different rates for different types of edits.

But wouldn't you want to prioritize, the first few chapters instead?
That's what I would have done, for the simple reason that if I was writing a novel, I would want my readers to start from page 1.Since I have a comic consisting of many stories, it really doesn't matter to me, since my readers can start from anywhere but with a novel it, the same thing wont apply, unless it's a bunch of one shots?

That was the original title of the thread. and not even a proof reader they don't have to tell em what doesn't make sense or a anything, just to right click on the red writing and chose the correct word based on the sentence

I agree, the editor is very recent, right now most of my readers are on the latest cahpters not first, so getting him to focus on that. If possible i will need ot hire an ACTUAL editor for the first few chapters
