I hate to break it to you, but even in the opening paragraphs of each chapter that I can see post-138, there's grammatical errors and typos. Your editor isn't doing their job.

Webnovel being a content mill that under pays it's creators and that puts them under terrible pressure to keep grinding out content for pennies isn't anything new to most people here. People know how webnovel works. They just find it morally reprehensible, and find that using Webnovel's bad business practices to justify your own unethical stance on paying people is also reprehnsible.

They don;t under pay people, its a site where oyu earn what you make same as tapas. you get 50 percent of locked chapters I belive tapas is the same.

Some people make $5 dollers a month from sales some people make $20,000
There is no requirment to write chapters or post daily at all written in the contract.

Where people get confused is they offer something to help new authors but you are nto required to do it.
If you update 1,500 words per day for the whole month they will pay you a minmum of 200 dollers.

But if you amde more sales then these thats fine. And if you only uplaod once a week and make more then this its fine. i think thats where people get confused, because ovbisoley 200 for 1,500 words a day isnt a lot.

I only write a lot to stay on top, because thats what the audience likes there

There's tons of information on webnovel's 'slave contracts'.

Webnovel literally is the 'WRITERS BEWARE' of webserialisation. They are rights grabby, they underpay, they have terrible conditions. There is nothing to recommend them. Don't simp for exploitation, jesus.

If you're close to the top then you should be making something like that $20k. Why not share the dosh a little more freely?

Im really not simping, yyou tell me how tapas is any different ith the 50/50 percent pay? where you make what you sell. You take only the negative and you have to understand what is written is mostly talking about Qidan contracts. Not WEbnovel.

Qidian is the Chinese version of webnovel. WEBNOVEL is even blocked in china because they don't follow the same rules.

and they read the ocntract without getting a lawyer to calrify everything first and then relise tis actulley the same as nealry every contract out there.

There is even the option to sighn non exlcusive so you can ost your work anywhere you want.
As i said there is no where in the ocntract stated that you have t write a minum amount you can write and pst whenever you want.

If oyu want to get thier small amount of Guarentee money then yes you have to write a lot.

There is a wattpadd author who recently moved her works over to webnovel. She has two completed books and only 60 chapters for both of them. And is earning 20k per month on them at the moment

I can't. I'm under contract with Tapas and on an NDA about contract clauses. I can tell you they are 100% a world away from Webnovel ones and centre creator's rights and needs above all else though.

Having seen contracts from all the other very large web novel platforms and a few trad publishing, I can say that this is absolutely 100% false. There are clauses in there that Tapas, Wattpad, Radish etc. would never.

Hi. Wattpad Star here. Which user are you referring to?

Same with Tapas.

What this might say is that you can't afford it to have this service yet - so scale back your business plan.

I was bored and decided to read some comments here and then read your line and the opening line itself needs a punctuation, since I was unsure if someone is going to die by falling over Quinn, or Quinn himself would die by falling. @KRWright I totally get your point.

One judging by the fact you don't know how much authors earn on web novel i doubt that you work for them. Please tell me your position in webnovel and i will be happy to confirm it science i am in contact with the bulk of thier team most of the time.

Here name is JasmineJosef on webnovel but i dont know if its the same on wattpad
Her novels are Married to the Devil's Son
and Return of The Devil's Son

That just means they are a contracted work, nto that they work for them, It seems there work never got pouler neough for them to earn any money, which would be the same on any other paltform

But you only refrence form you, im talking about the top 50 at least as i said its not a set ammount its how much you sell so everyperson gets a diffrent amoutn. Some 5$ and some $20 plus

Yeah that person is a MASSIVE Wattpad author.

I have no idea what this sentence says but I think I get it. You're trying to discredit someone who knows because they have signed contracts and know the clauses in them, by saying that they're not popular enough to have an opinion on it. They never said anything about earnings - just predatory clauses.

I dont know if oyu are being scarstic with the first line lol

i didnt say that at all and you are putting words into my mouth. Because of the way wwebnovel works you earn as much as you sell. Saying everyone earns little is not true. you can say the average is low etc.. but its the same.

Im sure there are premium authors on Tapas that earn little compared to the authors on top,a nd they should also knwo that its 50/50 per sale of every chapter and chapters cost are decided by word count

@KRWright When I'm bored , I review people's comics over here. I just make a random thread on the forum and ask people to post links to their comics/novels. If it's interesting, I subscribe, else after maximum two episodes I leave feedback with good points and bad points.Since I'm aware many people often look for concrit and at the same time, I dont want to demoralise them, I post both aspects of their art. I also know many people post here, with the intention of improving themselves, so I also point out basic grammar mistakes and improper use of tense since that provokes me a bit?
(You didnt ask me, but I'm just informing you? )

No one was talking about the 'tipping' but instead the fuck awful conditions and clauses.

I don't know why I'm tagged in this, but good for you if you want to do free concrit of people's work! I'm sure people are happy to have that when it's gifted.

Oh yes, It makes me happy too and it's alot better than me stalking comment threads on the forum to find new comics XD

Also I forgot to mention the original thing I wanted to say is what kind of editor do they currently have? -_-

I dont know what you mean by tipping? Im tlaking about how the user before said I know how much "Webnovel pays their authors."

And i was syaing it would be diffrent reltive to how well you do on the site. just like most online platforms.

In any case, if you're making #1 slot money, you can apparently afford to pay more than a dollar a chapter, even at 45% tax. Seeing as you've just argued that Webnovel pays so well, it isn't predatory etc. that means you must be doing pretty alright.

And we go back to the bggning again lol. I have alreayd given you all the reaosons anyway im going to delete this threa dbecause it has gone way off topic and i have alreayd gotten what i came for.

I am doing very well i was just lookign for help and decided to make a token gesture. i feel like i would have been better off offering no money.

I want this thread to stay up. I think it's very educational from the point of view of what creators should and should not accept. Like a 'how not to' guide regarding contracts and offering paid work.

I've been following this thread for a little bit, and I'm a bit confused.

I'm not a novelist or anything (just a comic creator), but I have seen people talk about having editors for their comics and novels and I just...

I was always under the impression that an editor did more than just look for spelling mistakes and grammar. I thought they also helped with story layout or asking questions about character motive and how an author could tie up loose ends or things like that?

Am I just confused about what an editor actually does?

I didnt ask for an editor someone changed the original title.

there are three types of editors. Copy editor, Line editor, and a i cant remember the name but they help you look for plot holes and such

There's different types of editor. So there's developmental edits (which are the most expensive) that really get into the nitty gritty details of plot, craft, character etc. Then there's line editing - looking at sentence flow, then there's proof or copy editing - looking for spelling grammar. Each of these are different skill sets. Most editors do all of these things, but charge different rates for different types of edits.

But wouldn't you want to prioritize, the first few chapters instead?
That's what I would have done, for the simple reason that if I was writing a novel, I would want my readers to start from page 1.Since I have a comic consisting of many stories, it really doesn't matter to me, since my readers can start from anywhere but with a novel it, the same thing wont apply, unless it's a bunch of one shots?

That was the original title of the thread. and not even a proof reader they don't have to tell em what doesn't make sense or a anything, just to right click on the red writing and chose the correct word based on the sentence

I agree, the editor is very recent, right now most of my readers are on the latest cahpters not first, so getting him to focus on that. If possible i will need ot hire an ACTUAL editor for the first few chapters

Thats litreally what i am paying peole 1 doller to do and then 50 extra at the end of the month. it just saves me time and i can work on the enxt chapter right away so if you did that for all the chapters it would be around $200

Don't forget to pay for their grammarly subscription too! Oh and remember that you're expecting them to be around CONSTANTLY during your timezone's active hours for your whims so that's extra too.
