I just assumed that artists they followed retweeted her tutorials and it popped up in their feeds, just like mine, since I never actually followed MM on Twitter.

Thank you. That is a great bit of explanation for me. Cause I really do struggle with the thought of someone looking for tutorials and then harassing some tutorial creator for calling their skill newbie material... but if they just followed someone and some retweet came up on their feed and they were like "WAT, HOW DOES SHE DARE CALL ME A NOOB" that actually makes a lot more sense.

It's still sad, of course. But at least it makes more sense to me now, thanks to you.

It really sucks, since the artist has a certain mindset where she sees one piece of backlash and her brain ratchets it up from 1 to 100 and induces her anxiety (at least that's what an acquaintance told me, don't quote me on that, lol). And she's RIGHT, short sketchy strokes is one of the signs of a beginner. And it super sucks since ALL the replies to a twitter post is right there under it. Unlike on tumblr where one would have to seek out the particular reply chain.

I dunno, there's been hella drama on twitter even before tumblr had its exodus. There was a total shit-storm when the 'Do you know de way?' meme dropped. At least that was one that I noticed before I joined twitter.
